Sure it had some gaps that needed to be tweaked, but the liberals have been clamoring for government healthcare for 50+ years. They somehow think the government does things better, which is a fallacy in and of itself.
We still don't have "government healthcare". What have is more regulation of the insurance industry (we have always had state and federal regulations) and subsidies to help afford private insurance premiums. The regulations primary relate to premium/overhead ratios (at least 80% of premiums to be spent on medical care) and patient protections - can't be denied coverage, no pre-existing conditions clause/excuses (Assurant Health was a big abuser of this to deny claims), can't be cut off 1/2 through cancer treatments... etc

You should pay more taxes.
Oh, we just p*ssed away $200 million.
Give us more tax money.

THIS is why I don't like paying taxes.
Absolutely waste the money all the freakin' time with no accountability and no one seems to ever know what they're doing.

It's clear that some of you have no idea how ACA (Obamacare) works, and that you have been listening to partisan talking points in piecemeal. It'd be good if you understood something that you revile. Y'all like a cartoon, right? Here you go, watch this: The Simplest Explanation Of Obamacare. Ever.

I am no fan of ACA but what this country had before it was far worse. This country needs some form of universal health coverage, perhaps a variation of Medicare for all.

It would be nice to see ACA fail because then most of the health insurance companies would fold. ACA is the only thing keeping them going.
Nope, we need a private system with changes for those who can pay for it and a government system ran like the military for those who can not.

I wrote a variation. Medicare uses private insurance companies. A lot. But they are subject to Medicare rules and regulations. And it works quite well.

Even the current governor of Florida understands it very well.

The truth is that people are finally beginning to understand just how expensive health care (and insurance) is in this country.

1. The Impressive New Obamacare Replace Plan From Republicans Burr, Hatch, And Upton - Forbes

2. Unpacking the Burr-Hatch-Upton plan

3. Patient CARE Act: What They’re Saying

Of course the left will not like anything that is not as least as intrusive and dysfunctional as Obamacare and therefore the Democrats in the Senate can be expected to obstruct the passage of any Republican proposal that is advanced. As a result, nothing will get done until after the next elections, making healthcare reform a central campaign issue in the 2016 race.

That will make this race very different than the 2008 campaign, when the Democrats ran first and foremost against George Bush, and secondly on jobs and the economy. Healthcare was not discussed much at all. So this time the candidates will campaign on it and the American people will have a chance to weigh in.

Obamacare will be excoriated of course, especially if it is gutted by the Supreme Court, all of which will leave a very bad taste in people's mouths about the bad judgment of the Democrats on this subject. It should be an interesting national discussion.

It is a pretty good cartoon and explanation; however, it leaves out a few things that are important, IMHO.

Here are two examples.

Due to the ACA, everybody's coverage is expanding. Now, a single guy in his 50's has to carry pregnancy coverage. Many of us will carry coverage for things we will NEVER use in order to spread out the costs to a larger population reducing the costs to those who will use it. Some people may see this as a positive while others will see it as a negative.

The cartoon also doesn't cover the fact that the ACA basically guarantees a profit to insurance companies. Personally, I don't believe the government should be responsible for any corporations profit regardless if it's an insurance company or a military contractor.

What I did like is that the cartoon brought up the fact that 30 million will still remain uninsured. I'll have to check number again, but I believe that 40 million were uninsured prior to the ACA. That's a lot of money spent to help just 10 million.
