Bush's missed flight physical was what, 1972 or so. Was cocaine, or anything other drug, even tested for then?
I remember around 1980 the military making a big deal about drug testing (Not On My Watch, Not on My Ship) but I also seem to remember that was when it started.
If so, then any assumption about a missed physical in 1972 or so because of fear of drugs being detected would be a non-starter if they weren't being screened.
Cocaine is not even tested for now, during a flight physical....
Were you a pilot in 1972? Do you think all urinalysis testing is the same?
No, but you seem to. Especially since drug testing didn't begin until several years later. The Navy, which I was in, especially had a drug problem and all they tested for was marijuana and opioids.

Reason: added
Bush dropped these pearls of wisdom on the Class of 2015:
What he forgot to tell the 'C' students about being President is to make sure your brother is the Governor of a key swing state and can manage to hand off the balloting to a conservative Supreme Court.
People have walked away from flight status, is it dumb, in my opinion yes. In their opinion it maybe worth it....
He was trained for a plane that was no longer relevant and in a job that was not going to be his career. He thought it was a waste of time, and if you look at it in terms of practicality, it wasn't practical for anyone to have him burning thousands of gallons of jet fuel "flying in circles over Houston".
I know the regs well from the Army standpoint, I was the official "Pee" guy for 4 years....
