It is sad but true.

Saving money doesn't fuel the machine....so saving is bad.

Bad Americans save their money, good americans go into debt.

Which is at ~155k per household. So a two income family with each making a tiny bit over 75k is rich... gotcha.

You have totally lost me with your post. It doesn't make any sense.

As it stands now, we don't tax the wealthy and two of the top 5 (Gates and Buffett) have decided to spend their money in Africa. While that is certainly a worthwhile cause, preserving America is also a worthwhile cause and they are giving nothing towards that end.
Except Gates agrees that he isn't taxed enough, as well as Bill Gates Sr. (ResponsibleWealth.org)

Wow... then he should give up his foundation and make a gift to the US Department of Treasury. But for some silly reason he chooses to direct his money toward programs that he feels will have the most impact, and align with his values. Shame on him!

If certain incredibly wealthy individuals feel they should pay more, what is to stop them from doing so???

They could quite easily GIVE their money to the federal gov't....that would be their choice to do so.

What seems to be their desire however is to FORCE others to as well.

It's simplistic to look at how "much" the wealthy pay and say, "oh, they already pay more than everyone else." They ALSO CONTROL more than everyone else, so I don't see why we should cry for them.

Additionally, the wealthy may pay "more taxes" but the "tax burden" FELT by the wealthy is significantly LESS than that shouldered by the middle and working class.

It's like the difference between "temperature" and "wind chill factor." Or, "it's not the heat, it's the humidity."

As I've said many times before... I always hear people screaming the socialist battle cry, but I still have yet to meet or talk to a single one that has refused a tax deduction or credit, or made a donation to the US Treasury to support the social programs. But I've met and talked to many who call for personal responsibility that donate time and money to charities on a regular basis.

Strange, isn't it?

Oh, come on guys! You can't punish people for being successful, anymore than you can reward people for being poor. How about a straight 10% tax, across the board.

People don't like that because they think the wealthy are evil and want to punish them.
