Our state requires full minimum wage for tipped workers. My prediction was that those it was meant to help will find the prices of everything going up, so the higher wage results in the same or even less spending power for them. Rent is not related much to minimum wage (other than maybe apartment maintenance laborers) but rent has gone up 8% since the minimum wage law was passed and it went to $11. For those workers making our previous state minimum wage of $9.47, their raise in Seattle was $1.53/hour. Over a month working 40 hours a week that's only $244.80/month, not enough to overcome the loss of their government subsidies.

Don't get me started on tipping. Why should the tip for a waiter delivering an item that costs $20 be more than a tip on an item costing $8? It should be a dollar amount and not a percentage of the bill.

Being someone who has worked in the service industry, I typically tip high. If I order a burger at a restaurant which typically costs about $11-13, I will tip between $3-5 depending on the service. For more expensive meals, I just double the first number and then round up a dollar if need be.

We need to eliminate tipping or make it completely voluntary (no it is not).
In Japan tipping is an insult.

Tipping is voluntary, it is just a culturally expected practice in this country.

You do know illegals don't get to vote right? And that reports of large scale illegal aliens voting in any numbers high enough to make a difference have turned out to be pure fantasy over and over and over.

This is how crazy some of the arguments get here.

Why can't illegals vote? Nobody is verifying anything. They can just register and vote like anybody else. Who is stopping them?

You really are unaware?

Well in most states a rather significant amount of effort is expended in making sure only eligible people can vote.

Did you know that ?
SNAP eligibility is usually reviewed on a 3 or 6 Month interval but anytime there is a change in Household income the change must reported by the 10th day following the Month the income changed.
