It had originally been blamed on line level workers in Cincinnati making an innocent, but boneheaded mistake to target. However, Cincinnati at the time said they got their orders from an Obama appointee in DC and had email evidence.
Now an IRS email has been released that proves that the order to target came from DC.
422 accidentally physically destroyed back up tapes containing emails despite an IRS and Congressional order not to tamper with them, the half a dozen hard drive crashes, all of the lies to congress under oath etc...and not a smidgen of corruption.
Obamabot: Brady destroyed his cell phone - guilty!
Obamabot: 422 email back up tapes were destroyed despite orders from multiple government agencies not to, nothing to see here!
Whoever didn't know it came directly from Obama and his cohorts is dumb as a box of rocks.
Well, the typical Obama supporter was in fact stupid enough to buy that the targeting came from low line level workers in Cincinnati. Because targeting occurred at IRS branches from San Francisco to DC. Low line level people in Cincinnati do not have the authority or ability to set nationwide policies.
Either that or Obama supporters are willing sheep.

A little of both for some, but there are a lot of posters here who were delighted with the administration using the IRS to influence the outcome of a presidential election cycle.

We are living in a banana republic.
The last sentence of the article is a hoot:
"Fitton may be overstating his case slightly, but one thing the emails make clear is that the IRS targeting scandal is not going away."
Let's face it. In terms of accountability and political fallout, the IRS scandal was never here.
I thought that IRS corruption would be the scandal to catch-on. Now I'm not sure something like Watergate or Iran-Contra would be more than a blip.
to Judicial Watch, which somehow continues to get info that Congress can't get and the media in general doesn't want to know.
Funny stuff, did you know they had a senate hearing on the IRS yesterday ( I bet no one was aware) but none of this was mentioned, maybe Judicial Watch needs a seat at the table.
Very rare but does happen, when it does happen it's usually because the machine was dropped and writing data at the time. Laptops come with impact sensors to help prevent this.
That said the time frame is just a little too convenient, this occurred just a short time after the first letter of inquiry was sent from Congress. Secondly a scratch is only going to affect whatever data was written to that area of the disc. It's very likely most if not all of the emails were recoverable.
