"The festival announced it was dropping Matisyahu from the program because he was unwilling to “clearly speak out against the [2014 Gaza] war and the right of Palestinians to have their own state.”
So now BDS targets Jews regardless if they're even Israeli or not. How anyone can claim that this isn't clearly anti Jewish is beyond me. Absolutely disgusting.
Looks like they banned him for his political views, which is bad enough. Why the egarness to call that anti-Jewish? Is it an attempt to demonize the enemy? ... to shame Jews who are pro-BDS?
Quote:
The 22-year-old music festival, which was founded in Italy but since 2009
takes place in Benicàssim, north of Valencia, canceled the scheduled appearance
of Matisyahu following intense pressure from the BDS movement in Valencia to
cancel the performance, saying the once-hassidic rapper has “participated in
pro-Zionist festivals and has said that Palestine does not exist.”
Considering its main purpose is the defamation and demonization of the Jewish state of Israel by depicting it as a racist, fascist, totalitarian, and apartheid state.

Because none of the other non-Jewish performers were asked to vet their beliefs. If you're a musician, and a concert venue tries to make you issue a statement apologizing for people with names and faces like yours, half a world away, to placate a political movement seeking to silence and exclude people with names and faces like yours from trade and popular culture, I'd like to think we can all agree that's antisemitic and/or racist.
I am a Jew who supports a 2 state solution and my sympathies generally bend toward the Palestinian cause. That doesn't mean I can't see anti-semitism for what it is - and it is very real in the BDS circle.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
Must be hard for you to be in an academic environment to not support BDS.
"In the video below, UCLA’s student council deliberates over the application of Rachel Beyda for a position on the university’s judicial board. Ms. Beyda is acknowledged to be “qualified, for sure” and “a great candidate, obviously.” Yet there is a problem. “I just worry about her affiliations.” She is “a Jewish student and very active in the Jewish community.” The student council voted not to appoint Ms. Beyda to the judicial board."
I keep reading about the rise of anti-semitism in France and Europe and they make it sound like neo-Nazis are attacking Jews. When in reality almost all the attacks on Jews are being committed by Muslims not right wing whites.

Muslims are semites...... Most of the Anti-Semitism here in America are by White Americans against both Judaism and Islam. Mostly Islam.
