The Republicans are constant losers. After losing again today, how many more votes are they going to have? When are they going to start governing while in complete control of Congress?

Quote:
Mitch McConnell should have taken Harry Reid’s deal on Iran, GOP Sen. Jeff Flake said in an interview Thursday.
The Arizonan said that it “does not make sense” to hold repeated procedural votes on Iran that are sure to fail, as the Senate is doing on Thursday with amendments that would require Iran to recognize Israel and release Americans held in Iran.

Quote:
Senate Democrats have turned back the latest GOP effort to undermine the Iran nuclear deal. Democrats blocked a measure aimed at maintaining sanctions unless Iran recognizes Israel and releases American hostages.

The vote was 53-45, short of the 60 votes needed to advance to a final vote. Two previous votes against the Iran deal have resulted in similar outcomes.
Thursday's vote saw Democrats even more united, as several who oppose the Iran deal nonetheless voted with their party, rejecting GOP majority attempts to use the issue to political advantage.

McConnell has been dealing with idiot Tea Partiers like Cruz for too long now. These silly, fruitless tactics have become so much the norm with Congressional Republicans that they don't know how to function any other way any more. They have wasted so much time--54 votes to defund the ACA???--that the country would be better off if they all just went home. Actually, I doubt the county would even notice they were no longer there. They are wastes of space, every one of them.

It makes you feel sorry for the few sane Republicans left, stuck in the middle of the lunacy that is today's GOP.

Unfortunately there will be more to come regarding sanctions.

The supposedly "sane" GOP leaders you defend, lied to voters to get reelected. They ran campaign ads telling voters they would repeal ObamaCare and stop Obama's executive power grabs with immigration, and then they rolled over on their backs and funded all of it, leaving Cruz to stand up for the campaign promises the GOP refused to live up to.

In Last-Ditch Ploy, Mitch McConnell Ties Iran Deal To Recognition Of Israel
uhm

1. dont even know why we would want to negotiate with the terrorist country

2. they already have many bombs, to include subnuclear

3. this 'deal' wont prevent them from persuing bigger bombs

4. they need to recognize thier neighbors like israel

Iran, the United States and five other world powers have sealed a breakthrough framework agreement outlining limits on Iran's nuclear programme, despite attempts by Israel and Saudi Arabia to thwart the deal. Al Jazeera spoke with four analysts about why Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries, along with Israel, are upset about the agreement.

A nuclear deal with Tehran, from the Saudi perspective, means two things: Iran will have the ability to improve its economic standing, and the capability to create a nuclear weapon - since the deal will only take effect for a relatively short period of time, 15 years, and will not destroy Iran's technical capabilities to maintain a nuclear programme. Both results would strengthen Iran and its allies in the region

most of the middle-east OPPOSES this deal

saudi wants the sanctions kept
UAE Abu Dhabi wants the sanctions kept
kuwait wants the sanctions kept
oman wants the sanctions kept but modified
Bahrain wants the sanctions kept
qatar wants the sanctions kept
jordan wants the sanctions kept
israel wants the sanctions kept

and irans actions in yemen is making the entire mid east unhappy

alternative

INCREASE sanctions...strangle the terrorist country....no need for war...liberals are always pushing for sanctions, why not this time???

You mean 54 votes to defund the ACA wasn't enough? How many more tries would satisfy you that they attempted to do what they said they would? Did it ever occur to you that they simply don't have the votes to pass some of the things you are demanding they pass, like defunding Obamacare or Planned Parenthood or derailing this Iran deal? The votes simply aren't there. Like it or not, that's how it works.

But Cruz's answer is always, if I don't get my way then no one gets to play. Sandbox tactics of three year-olds is all the GOP has left these days.

Iran does not have nuclear weapons, and they never have.

Who cares about Israel, and those tyrannical Gulf states. You mention Iran supporting proxy groups, while advocating supporting the Gulf states who are supporting Sunni extremist groups (Al Qaeda, ISIS, Al Nursa front, etc...).

The U.S. should do this deal if it fulfills U.S. interests, and not reject it because Israel, or the Gulf States don't like it.

Iran and Saudi Arabia are fighting for influence in the region, and Yemen is another place this is occurring. The Houthi rebels (Shi'a) are fighting the Sunni government (Hadi), along with AQAP. The Saudis (Along with the other Gulf States) do not like it because if the Houthis take over it will be a Shi'a government in Yemen.
