Roarshack test thread.

(Yes, I did that intentionally to keep within the spirit of idiocy that this thread was founded.)

Reagan should have fired Bush right after Bush tried to kill him.

But he didn't.

So, here we are today.

then your memory is bad.......Reagan brought down INFLATION and and won the COLD WAR...remember that or you called in sick too many times during school?

that's the reason he won re-election by winning 49 states in a landslide and millions of Democrats voting for him......are you going to tell me you know more about the 80's then the actually people who had to work during the 80's and make a living? how old were you in the 80's?

funding rebels to fight communist governments? yeah genius that was part of the cold war, the Soviets and their agents were doing the same thing to throw down governments to impose communism by force......again, did you slept during history class?

your grandpa was a lifelong Republican?????? I guess he wasn't a conservative. Who did he admired Nixon, Ford, Rockefeller???

Reagan was a President for ALL, the reason he won re-election by a huge landslide 49 states, that has never been done since. Millions of DEMOCRATS voted for Reagan in 1980 and 1984, does that sound like Reagan was pandering just to the Religious right?

I'm sure your Grandpa would have been happier if Carter/Mondale won re-election in 1980 and Mondale/Ferraro would have won in 1984.

Yeah those were the good times.

Those of us who tried to buy or sell houses during the Reagan Administration remember the 18% mortgage interest rate.

Learn your history.

Democrat Jimmy Carter which took effect after his presidency then Reagan had to clean up the mess.

When President Reagan entered office in 1981, he faced actually much worse economic problems than Obama faced in 2009.

Three worsening recessions starting in 1969 were about to culminate in the worst of all in 1981-1982, with unemployment soaring into double digits at a peak of 10.8%. At the same time America suffered roaring double-digit inflation, with the CPI registering at 11.3% in 1979 and 13.5% in 1980 (25% in two years). The Washington establishment at the time argued that this inflation was now endemic to the American economy, and could not be stopped, at least not without a calamitous economic collapse.

All of the above was accompanied by double -igit interest rates, with the prime rate peaking at 21.5% in 1980.

Worse I'd hate to have been one of the US Marines in a barracks in Beirut that weren't able to get out of bed. You know, the ones whose murders your hero Ronnie did nothing about?
