The people of Denmark enjoy an average 33-hour work week, get guaranteed healthcare, guaranteed college, a YEAR of paid FMLA, and if they become unemployed, the can receive up to 90% of their previous salary for TWO YEARS. They are also ranked as the #1 happiest nation on earth, have much lower poverty, higher wages, less gun deaths, and best of all.....THE #1 NATION IN THE WORLD TO DO BUSINESS!!!
I am consistently appalled that so many conservatives in this nation continue to believe that there's not a single example in the world where Democratic Socialism has worked. They simply refuse to acknowledge it. Do you REALLY think a Denmark person would actually WANT to move to America?!
I don't want to hear, "but but....socialism has never worked anywhere in the world," ever again. It's right wing propaganda BALONEY.
If I were you I would book a ticket to Denmark as soon as possible.
When you get there I'm sure you can point out everything they are doing wrong and they will wish you had gotten there much sooner.
Does anyone know the population of the United States? ... 200 years ago? ...how many legal immigrants it takes in every year? Hellion, can you help us out with that?
I'm happy that Denmark is so awesome, particularly since part of my ancestry is Danish. But with an average income of $26,491 and average wealth of $44,488 compared to USA average income of $41,355 and average wealth of $145,769 (OECD Data)...I'm afraid I don't want to take such a huge cut in my wealth and lifestyle to live like a Danish.
It is simple, really. I wanted to earn everything I could. At least as much as the cultural and economic structure of this country allowed. I was not ever interested in being 'taken care of', being provided or guaranteed. I remember once having to apply for unemployment insurance. It was demeaning. Fortunately, I found another good job before the benefit began. So, I never actually collected. It took real effort. Even the amount of SS that is part of my retirement income was determined by how much I earned during my working years.
To have a government provide for every need seemed and still seems somehow soul robbing.
I love how Liberals will post about Denmark or Sweden and Norway and say how they are so happy and the socialist model works while completely ignoring cities such as Detroit and Chicago which are abject social failures.
The bottom line is that America is not Denmark and socialism is a proven failure in America. Stop trying to make your square peg fit into a round hole.

What happens when all that money runs out????
I have a Danish passport but will not live in a country that rewards laziness, rations health care and taxes you to the brink of death.

Rent is cheaper in DK, and you don't pay for many things you pay in America.
Americans would never understand how Scandinavia works until they live abroad or go on vacation to Europe
We do know how it works: REGRESSIVE taxes that burden the middle class and poor the most, and the rich can hide their income and capital gains off shore so they're tax-free - no FATCA law.
Case in point: Ingvar Kamprad. Look it up...
