Reagan was to the right of both the 2008 and 2012 nominees.

If Reagan used his resume as the president to run today, he'd not even come close to winning a single Republican primary.

Get real. 4 tax hikes, illegal alien amnesty, pulling troops out of the Middle East after the 2 terror attacks in Beirut, etc...

He wouldn't even get out of the gate.

I think it might be our age (I am assuming you are in your 20s like me) but most younger Republicans seem to be more moderate, if not liberal when it comes to social issues, immigration, etc. We're more in tune with the modern United States. I just want the Republicans to return to being the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and Eisenhower.
I'm nineteen and I do believe that it is our age and in general just being more open minded. You are exactly like me I have said numerous times that I want to bring the Republican Party back to the way it was when Lincoln was in control.

I'm new to the forum though if there is a way to private message please do I would love to speak with you.

While he is a Republican Demigod, someone young Republicans aspire and masturbate to today, he would get "primaried" by the Lipton Brigade(R) for being soft on immigration and not being batchit crazy.

Reagan would win in today's electorate because he was likeable, passionate, reasonable, and valued all opinions. He won all but 1 state in his 2nd term, he might not be able to do that today but he would still win in a landslide.

Reagan in large part won because of Carter. Carter was on television telling people they had to turn their thermostats down and wear a sweater. Reagan was telling them the country could be great again.

There is a message there for today.

What issues did the radical Republicans support that apply to today's issues?

Funny thing is that the holy grail of the Dems, JFK, would be considered radically far right today!

He's not the Holy Grail of the Democratic Party by a long shot, nor would he be considered even mildly to the right.
