Sorry i just cant. The day is halfway over...thank god. I see no point in thanking someone who joined a branch of the military considering all the perks that they get. And lets be honest, if those perks were not there, they wouldnt join. Its not about seving your country. Ive never heard anyone saying that is the one and only reason for joining.
I feel like those that fought in ww2 should be respected, but fighting in useless wars to me, doesnt mean that you should get treated any different. When you sign that paper, you know what you are getting into. Its not like people force you to join. I nust wish all tbe hero worship would nust be over already.
As a veteran let me say this... TOO BAD. We made great sacrifices for you. Buck up and show a little respect and decency.
Your screen name is "Down in a Hole". That sounds about right.
^^^That.
It is a day to honor all of our veterans. I usually spend the day thinking of my father and uncles who were all veterans of WWII.
The OP sounds lonely and depressed. Not sure what the history is there that brings out this contempt for veterans but I am sure there is something there. Some people tried to get in and couldn't, others got kicked out, some lost loved ones, etc. and just became sour about anything military.
You know, being as you're so worked up over today, and how the perks are so great and all, just drop down to your local recruiter. Make sure you he includes the free travel, personal trainer, and campouts with breakfast in bed. You wouldn't want to miss out now would ya?
Huge respect for ALL military personnel both present and past.
As a Brit this is what we celebrated, I think we are all proud to be side by side with the USA
Have a great day
My unit hosted and trained with a regiment of Brit tankers at Ft. Carson, Colorado back in 1967. As I recall, we were intoxicated for the entire month of May and part of June...
