Silly Christians...

So easily offended.

So timid, threatened, and hypersensitive. Declaring that a few people who don't hail their Johnny-come-lately holiday represent a "war" on their huge majority.

Relax.

It's OK that some dark ages pope claimed the much older midwinter celebration as Christianity's own.

It's OK that it is known to Biblical scholars as being not being the date of Jesus' birth.

It's OK that the church even adopted many of the older pagan customs as part of "their" holiday.

So, take a deep breath. If someone says "happy holidays" you're going to be OK.

Carry on.

Ha ha, I was rereading what I just wrote and was thinking: Dear God. Epic rant that's epic.

Too much eggnog?

There was a point in there somewhere.

that was a wonderful rant. I feel the same way.

One of the perks of being retired is I no longer have to be nice and polite in order to keep my job and income. Not that the income is paid no matter how I act or what I say I do just that.

Happy Hollandaise

Merry Christmas

Wanted to rep that epic tome but you know the drill. But I think we all got your point, and I couldn't agree more. The country is awash in Christmas for at least a quarter of the year. There's no way to avoid it if you wanted to. And the rampant consumerism that is Christmas in America has very little to do with Christ.

The only war on Christmas happening here is being waged by Christians against anyone who doesn't ascribe to their dogma.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Where's the bigotry again, here?

It's half-hilarious and half-sad to see people defining "bigotry" as having their right to exclude others and dominate challenged. "Help. We're being oppressed! We USED to be able to shout down anybody else's celebration. Oh the bigotry we used to enjoy! I mean...oh the bigotry against us!"

Christmas "stuff" and Christmas celebrating are everywhere. Literally everywhere. Christmas has been crammed down the entire nation's throat since OCTOBER. If THAT isn't enough for you nothing ever will be. Ever. Period.

Grow up. I swear some people just aren't happy unless they have something to complain about. If you want to feel victimized I'm sure there's a somewhat more believable way to do it so you may want to start looking around for options. "Christmas is under attack" when you can't turn around without something red-and-green hitting you in the face from Halloween through New Year's Day just isn't cutting it.
Applause, applause!!!!

Republicans can't find the time to pass the Zadroga Act to aid 911 first responders, but they always seem to find the time to work on crap like this. This is without a doubt the most useless Congress in history.

It's amazing how absolutely no one can feel as victimized as those who have come to consider their unearned privilege a law of nature.

That it is.

Just goes to show that it's all window-dressing to them. They have absolutely no clue as to the real point of the season.
