Disclosure: I'm no Trump fan. You can close off people from specific countries, but not specific religions or ideologies; dumb idea.
Trump talks in generalities. If it ever got down to the specifics, banning by country is the only practical way he'd be able to do it, and even then it would not be 100% effective. It would be helpful though.
