"Costly beliefs: State squeezes last penny from bakers who defied lesbian-wedding cake order"

Melissa Klein was checking her bank accounts just a few weeks before Christmas when her face turned ashen. The money was gone – every single penny.

Oregon’s Bureau of Labor and Industries had confiscated all the cash in Mrs. Klein’s checking account and savings account as well as a special account set aside for their church tithe.

In July, they were ordered to pay more than $135,000 in damages to a lesbian couple after they refused to bake their wedding cake. The Kleins objected because of their religious beliefs.

The judgment was awarded to the lesbians for “emotional suffering.”

Just a few weeks before Christmas, Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian wiped out the Klein family’s bank accounts – taking nearly $7,000.

The Kleins were also slapped with a gag order – banning them from speaking publicly about their refusal to participate in or bake wedding cakes for same-sex marriages, The Oregonian reported.

(Brad) Avakian has publicly stated his intentions to target Christian business owners who do not comply with the state’s way of thinking. Here’s what he told The Oregonian about Sweet Cakes By Melissa in 2013:

“The goal is never to shut down a business. The goal is to rehabilitate.”

Rehabilitation? Yeah, that is pretty damn Orwellian! Vee have vays of making you cooperate! Listen, I have nothing against gay people! I really don't! I've always, and will continue to say that it isn't my business what 2 consenting adults do in their bedrooms! But for cryin' out loud? How about finding another damn bakery to bake the cake? There is no shortage of them, and quite frankly no matter what, you're just not going to get everyone to support you! We still have freedom of association, free speech, and freedom of our thoughts in this country! So, when people pull s*** like this, and destroy someone's livelihood over their beliefs, you lose my support! I understand that in the public sector that discrimination will not be tolerated! However; this is a private business, and while they serve the public, they DO have the discretion of who they wish to serve, or not to serve for any reason whatsoever! In other words, if I own a business, and I don't want to serve you, I don't need to give a reason! And if you come into my establishment with an agenda, a chip on your shoulder, looking for an easy payday, all the while disrupting my flow of business, no matter what race, gender, or sexual preference, I'm going to show you the door with my size 13 shoe! The baker's only error is that he didn't keep his mouth shut here! They should have said they were booked!

I bet the folks who didnt want to serve blacks felt the same way. Yawn.

Also the reason their fine was so high was primarily due to their actions after the incident.

These people would have gotten a slap on the hand were it not for their later actions. If Muslims did the same thing, the EXACT same thing would happen to them. Im not sure what you think Oregon is, but thats not it. Sheesh.
