i love the idea. i hate bills that have riders, and amendments attached that have nothing to do with the original bill, but were put in as "gotcha" legislation. that way if you vote for the original bill, you can be excoriated if it is bad legislation, but if you vote against it, then you can be excoriated for voting against the attachment.

This is only one of the many games that can be played. Lobbyists *love* playing these games.

"Rep. Mia Love wants to crack down on Congress dumping controversial legislation into unrelated, must-pass bills in the middle of the night.

The Utah Republican has introduced a measure to limit bills in Congress to one subject at a time."

Rand Paul, Jim DeMint and Mike Lee also sponsored a similar bill in the Senate.

I think the GOP in both houses introduce these types of resolutions on a regular basis, but they never seem to make it to the floor for a vote.

This has been tried before. It always fails. Let's see if a Republican Congress can get it done this time.

Rep. Love has introduced one of the most important pieces of legislation in the history of the U.S.

A similar movement was started by Janine Turner to limit bills to 30 pages.

Each of them, including Mia, are Tea Party.

Good idea, I am going to do the same.
Hope this gets the media attention it deserves.
Would love to see them bring this up at the debates tonight.
