The Flying Spaghetti Monster Gains Cred (and Colanders) in the Netherlands (healthcare, education)

The Dutch just got a new religion. It involves a giant deity who's fond of flying spaghetti and people who wear colanders on their heads.

Yep, "Pastafarianism," which sprang up in 2005 in response to the Kansas State Board of Education's decision to allow intelligent design to be taught as an alternative to evolution, has gotten more legit.

The Netherlands joins a handful of other countries in recognizing the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the brainchild of one Bobby Henderson, a then 25-year-old physics graduate from Oregon.

Spinach-Eating Huitzilopochtli used to gain strength from human sacrifices to battle the stars so the sun could rise each day. He learned about spinach though and now gains strength from that instead, just like Popeye.
