obama is oing to try to replace scalia, as to whether that will happen or not depends on who he nominates.

i said A little time, NOT little time. that said, yes there might be plenty of time, normally, to put up a nomination, this being an election year, with 1/3 of the senate up for reelection, the amount of time available is actually sliced way down for going through the nomination process. so yes there is time, but not as much as you might think. and chances are that obama is going to nominate someone who is very liberal, and the republicans in the senate then will put off nomination hearings, until the middle of the summer, and probably reject the first nominee, thus putting a severe crimp in the amount of time obama has to put up a second nominee and get them through the process, because by that time the country will be deep in the election cycle, and we wont get hearings. and then after the election obama will be busy, along with everyone else, dealing with the change of office, so nomination hearings wont happen then either, so chances are the next president will be the one replacing scalia.

as to who it favors, depending on the mood of the country, i say either clinton or cruz and trump.

IMO,

Obama will nominate a candidate and the GOP controlled Senate will confirm said candidate.

I'm sure that Obama has no interest in picking someone so controversial, he/she won't be nominated and the slot passes to the next president.

This is terrible news. Obama is probably salivating. He will appoint some anti-Constitution liberal who will work to destroy what remains of our Constitutional Republic.

Very bad news for America.

i think they will make a show of it, but likely it wont happen until after the new president is installed, as i noted above.

That's the battle now. Stall and prohibit Obama's nominees

Let's hope they can. Obama must NOT be allowed to select a Supreme Court Justice.

Regards to his family, but I'm not exactly torn up about it.

Can we go a year without 9 justices? This is now political football.

As for Ginsberg, it's her prerogative. She may outlive us all.

Lightbulb Justice Scalia found dead at 79

Very sudden and unexpected, but that's probably the best way to go.

This will start a very amusing fight to confirm a replacement.

Think of the possibilities!

The survival of the second amendment depends on the Republicans delaying a replacement until next year.
