Trump's most expensive Mexican/Chinese suit cost $279.00 you can buy an American made suit for $395.00.so the only conclusion that I can come up with is that the "Trump Brand" isn't worth spending another $116.00 so that they could be made in the USA.

It isn't empty rhetoric. The President cannot impose tariffs directly, of course. But Just like Obama, he submits his proposals and requests to Congress which passes the legislation. Obama has gotten virtually everything he wants. What makes you think Trump would not be able to get his tariff proposals through Congress?

I guess no president is able to do anything then. Right? He's just a figurehead. You know that isn't the case, so what makes you think Trump couldn't get his tariff proposal though Congress.

In Bernie's case, he'd have more difficulty with his mega taxing plan, because he would have to deal with a Republican Congress, many of whom were "Tea Party" candidates.

Only Congress can pass laws. Or did you forget that.

I don't think you read my post, which you are responding to. But, tell it to Obama. He seems to think he can make law, "I have a phone, and I have a pen ... " His most recent is his vow to close GITMO and bring the detainees to U.S. soil without, any Constitutional authority to do it.

A 30% tax is a little high but the point is valid, if an "American Company" wants to produce their product in another country then tax them as an import. Maybe that will start companies looking at home to meet their production needs provided both sides can be reasonable.

Where is Daikan from, Asia? They are building a huge plant down the road from me in Houston.

Let Carrier open a plant in Mexico. Now that all the Mexicans have gone home, they need an HVAC unit. At least those employed by Carrier in Mexico are working in Mexico.

Stop buying foreign made stuff. It is that easy, Americans. I've been voting with my dollars for 50 years.

No it won't. It would help to move things back here so we won't be hurt by any of it. There is no reason to do any of the things we do regarding trade. If the EPA relaxes regs we can even make our own stuff here and sell it here AND abroad instead of importing it from abroad. We hardly have ANY exports anymore. Almost all of it is natural resources, food and services. What do we make here and export out? Not much.
