Trump, speaking at a rally, talking about Carrier's plans to move plant to Mexico, said they will pay a 30% tax on every unit that they bring across the border if he is elected President. I agree with this.
This is how the federal government got it's money before the Income Tax.

I'm torn on it. Yes it is how the government made money before income tax. And it did a lot for us in other ways.
The concern is global trade wars, and economic efficiency. And.....I'm not 100% sure they would be a bad thing for us. Yes it would reduce trade and efficiency. But the efficiency benefits aren't benefiting the common people much. Yes I buy cheaper widgets, but what good is that if the local widget company where I work goes to China or Mexico? This is a VERY complex topic to know what the right answer is. It might be Trumps. I dont think the pure economic answer does, but if our concern is ONLY our side of the economic question, the answer may be that this is right for us.

Be careful what you wish for, trade wars in the late 19th/early 20th century aren't something to be cheerful about.
If progressives and Trump supporters vote into office Congresspeople with similar pro-worker views, then sure, gridlock in Congress can come to an end, and stuff can be done to protect the American worker, whether the Chamber of Commerce like it or not.
This will create jobs and reduce or eliminate trade deficits. The elites want globalization to enrich themselves at the expense of the American blue collar worker. It's time to say no, bring our jobs back and let other countries and the world worry about themselves. The world order only works for the rich.

I would rather have Americans working at good wages and go without certain things than watch good, hard working people suffer because some rich ******* wants to sell his product to China at minimal cost to enrich himself.
It would hurt us of course but in the long run it would hurt others more
These countries are jacking their currencies
We export raw commodities and import finished goods.
Tariffs will hurt us more than them.
