Author Meghann Foye is causing a stir after she declared maternity leave is a perk all women should enjoy, regardless of whether they have children.
In an article Thursday for the New York Post, Ms. Foye, author of the new book “Meternity,” argued that all working women deserve some “me” time to focus on their personal lives.
“[A]fter 10 years of working in a job where I was always on deadline, I couldn’t help but feel envious when parents on staff left the office at 6 p.m. to tend to their children, while it was assumed co-workers without kids would stay behind to pick up the slack,” the 38-year-old wrote.
I'm not even going to read the links, I had enough with the paragraph that you posted. What a load of garbage. If she wants "me" time, then she can stop working for awhile and take that "me" time. No one OWES that to her. WTH is it with everyone thinking that they are owed all kinds of things?
If you aren't having a kid, why on earth would you need maternity leave? I'm not upset that other females get maternity leave and I don't just because I'm not having a kid...what do I care? I still have my freedom.
Director used to say the company owed her one day a month for menstruating.
when she and another boss tried to screw one of the worker bees, the manager says, we got her, she takes at least a day off every month! The Director then tells her, we can't do that becasue I take a sick day every month.
Tough to manage people when one group gets a perk the others don't. Was always a problem with non childbearing workers resenting latitude for taking care of kids. Taking care of aging parents was another bugaboo.
She says to me, your phone bill has more than 11 minutes on it this month.... well yeah, if you remember, my dad was on his death bed and eventually died.
I guess a 'non mother' is socially correct parlance for a dad. or it could be any flavor of humanity who doesn't actually give birth.
Across the board rules are deadly to most business........ but who cares?
And don't give me that tripe about single mothers.
Huh?
