It seems that most of the biggest - population-wise - states have Democratic governors (California, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, Virginia) but the smaller less significant states like Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Alabama and Mississippi have Republican governors. Yes of course there are exceptions ... Texas has a GOP governor and Rhode Island has a Democrat.

Don't worry, Wolfe in PA is toast next time around. And McAuliffe in VA will be replaced by a Republican. Washington State is due to elect a Republican too if the Dems voter fraud can be stopped there.

California is hopeless, you're right about that.

Not surprised about Malloy. I can't think of one person that I know that actually likes him. He gets booed at everywhere. Raised taxes twice on businesses and families which made the economy worse off now he's laying off thousands of state workers because the deficit is close to $1 billion dollars. Since people are moving out of state at record highs due to the fact that it's so expensive, we losing revenue fast. He doesn't work with Republicans and only listens to Democrats, but since he's laying people off, he's being bashed by his own party. He only beat the Republican nominee because of Hartford, New Haven, and Bridgeport which are welfare Giants!

This has to end somewhere. First and foremost the pension issue needs to be addressed, at a bare minimum new hires and those currently employed will need accept they are going to contribute more. They are also going to have to accept less if they want a guaranteed benefit. The current system leaves the state and local governments exposed to the liabilities of a volatile market.
Your state has a 32 Billion dollar budget, and pensions only account for 2 billion. I do not understand your attempt to blame pensions for your states budget deficit.

Because it's by far the largest funding issue we face.

2 billion doesn't even cover the teachers, for the teachers alone it's going up 200 to 400 million each year and that is projected to happen until 2035. In 2022 it will be 5 billion dollars and that is just for the teachers.

This is not a short term issue, it's long term and needs to be addressed now, it's also affecting all levels of government here in PA.

The odds of a Republican governor in Washington, the most liberal US state, are not that much higher than California.

We've had more R Governors than D's over the decades.

In fact, since Reagan we have had 32 years of Republicans, and only 20 years of Dems... 16 of those being Jerry Brown. This state is full of Liberals, but even they know the state would be ran into the ground (ala Gray Davis) if the state congress was left unchecked.

People don't give Schwarzenegger the credit for what he accomplished facing an uber-liberal off their nut house and senate.

Now we have Brown again and this state is even more bankrupt!

EVERY time we've had a dem as gov, he has been replaced with an R. IF Brown is followed up with another D, then yes... this state is totally screwed.

To think 10% of the votes actually went to a gun runner (Lee-D) is absolutely insane!

IM not arguing that it isnt an issue at all, but it doesnt explain your state being 2 billion in the whole .

if your state had no pension liabilities at all, you would just barely be at a balanced budget.
