Giving Trump the codes would be like giving Wiley Coyote a shipment from Acme Manufacturing.

Republicans appear to be a dispirited bunch lately, plotting to derail their own candidate for president.

Despite their firm stance on the NRA's interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, seems their convention will be a gun-free zone.

I find this astounding. What if bad guys sneak AR-15s in with the catering carts and they are left with only their pocket copies of the Bill of Rights to defend themselves?

Though given the number of guns used in suicides, I would imagine that being a gun-free zone when Trump gives his victory speech is a good idea.

Speaking of plots and conspiracies, is the theory that Donald Trump is running to put the seamier side of the GOP on public display, sow chaos and dissension in the ranks, and pave the way for Hillary gaining any traction?

That will be probably be the least gun free zone on the planet with the exception of military compounds. There will be thousands of armed local/state law enforcement agents there and the hundreds of Secret Service agents armed with who knows what.

That is besides the numerous security check points including metal detectors.

Your comment is about as lame as someone suggesting the Democrats give up that protection during their convention.

I think you are right.

In the grand scheme of things, historians 50, 75, 100 years from now will judge the Clinton presidency as a successful one. The private sexual dalliances of public figures are meaningless. A good example was that of President Grover Cleveland who may or may not have fathered a child out of wedlock ("Ma, Ma where's my Pa?") which outraged Victorian conservatives of his day. Yet today Cleveland is regarded as one of the 10 best presidents this country ever had.

Democrats are generally in favor of gun control. Why would they argue to have guns at their convention? That wouldn't make sense.

Whereas Republicans argue constantly that people need to be armed to protect themselves from bad guys, that the Bill of Rights guarantees their "right to bear arms," that it's not the guns that are dangerous but the bad guys, etc.

Republicans are the ones insisting the people should have the right to open carry in public, not Democrats.

So why ban guns at their convention?

As to the metal detectors and the thousands of armed law enforcement agents keeping them safe -- do Republicans actually believe this?

Assault weapons could already be hidden away in heating vents and cleaning closets. They could be taped to the bottom of catering carts. Any number of ways to get guns into a convention center besides going through metal detectors.

Insisting that that their convention be a gun-free zone is the height of hypocrisy and I'm surprised Republicans are putting up with it.

2008 was a pretty relevant resounding failure.

CONFIRMED=> Hillary Clinton Received 1.5 Million FEWER Votes in 2016 than in 2008 — Democrats Down 7 Million Votes

Countless times we've all witnessed the righteous carrying on about the lax morals of others, only to be caught in compromising positions themselves.

Ken Starr, whose Javert-like pursuit of Bill Clinton helped bring a level of mean-spirited intensity to partisan politics, has now been revealed to be a monumental sleazeball himself.

Naturally, can't help but wonder about all these current accusers of dirty dealings.
Let's not forget the others who managed to politicize a private affair and, in the process, also ruin the life of Monica Lewinsky ~ Dennis Hastert leading the charge and now in prison for diddling little boys and then bribing them to keep quiet. OH, and Tom Delay and others involved in politicizing the affair of Clinton have since written letters to the Judge for Hastert assuring the Court of what a great guy Hastert is ~ deep down.

You've mentioned Ken Star - who is now walking off his own plank with regard to the rape culture of his college; covered up and silenced.

And let's not forget NEWT - who was busy having an affair with his future THIRD wife during all this; the great guy who petitioned his wife for an 'open marriage'.

That's not entirely accurate.

Bill Clinton's license was suspended, but as of 2006 he is eligible to renew his license to practice law.

While they have amassed a fortune in the private sector, mainly through books and speaking engagements, even if they had never entered politics, they would have been very successful.

"25+ years of trying to take down the Clinton's has failed"

Not really. They were taking down, big time, in 2008. It's all about who the party officials want.
