We need a background check for driver's license or just ban scary looking, black cars.

Cheap gas = more driving = more fatalities. But they're still way down compared to previous decades, due to improvements in vehicle construction and safety.

I have no "proof", but the idiots that I see all over the road are the same ones who can't take their eyes off of their phones any time that they are awake. It won't be long before cars have "jammers" to disable these things. The kids now treat their phone like an appendage to their body. Scare the hell out of me on the road as I am often on my motorcycle having no idea when they are actually paying attention to what they are doing.

I didn't read the piece but I would wager a guess most of it is due to texting and similar distractions.

I would support the passage of laws that would make cell phone use in any car, by anyone including passengers, illegal.

From my own experience the cell phone is the most dangerous piece of equipment on the road today. I would rather be on the road with a drunk than a texting brain dead idiot.

We've raised our youth to put their phones as more of a priority than their lives. I'm not surprised.

I remember one story there was this one (insert derogatory Term for woman) that on snapchat while driving went over 100 mph because the app could record your speed while you take a selfie. She crashed into someone.

Sad thing is she didn't die. But I believe who she hit was in worse condition.

I hadn't thought of that.

Thanks.
