Salt of the Earth workers possess something that is stripped of the prisoner... Free will. The worker is free to migrate to the best paying job opportunities, while the prisoner is stuck doing whatever work is made available to them.
I really don't think you will find too many workers who would argue that the prisoner has any sort of advantage over them. If they thought that to be true, than they might be tempted to trade places. I doubt there would be many takers.

Very true, although the focus has long & lately been on the 'job creators' to create jobs. It doesn't seem to matter (to them) if the jobs are in other Countries, or in prisons. It should surprise no one.
