I see a lot of white people , BLM supporters and others crying about the horrors of white privilege.
My theory is that these people actually are privileged, but not because they are white. They were born into money or have parents that do pretty well for themselves and they feel guilty about this.
Do you think any of the white people talking about white privilege are actually poor or struggling?
I'm guessing the average one went to a decent liberal arts college, had help from family , live in a pretty nice low crime area , and have a good paying job or likely to soon have one upon graduation.
Right on the head. White liberals are always those born with the silver spoon, who have a sense of noblesse oblige, or however you want to say it.
Poor white folks know that it the black community that have the privlege. They get quota spots in universities, governement jobs and businesses. They get a handicap of several hundred points on their SATS. Their poor behavior is contantly defended as "black rage," or, absurdly, a legacy of events from hundreds of years ago. Etc.
there's no actual 'privileges' for whites. whites don't get anything 'extra' than they would otherwise be expected to get.
Clap, clap, clap, clap. You got it! BTW, there is no reason to be ashamed of white privilege. It is just something you can acknowledge and you just did. I understand you didn't intend to but you did.

Agree or disagree?
White privilege has nothing to do with money. This topic has been discussed like 50,000 times

Hahaha haha. Sure did acknowledge it. Tim Wise and Jane eilliot get it
Most white people I came across feel guilty & apologetic. They over compensate & are really nice. But I am middle class & interact only with educated crowd so I cant speak for everyone. I have people in my own family who discriminated & treated me badly but since I moved to usa I haven't faced more than an occasional passing comment that I could easily ignore. 99% of people I come across here are very polite & friendly. Andthat includes all the races. It also depends on your region as well because some states are not as polite as others. I actually feel very uncomfortable & home sick when I visit my country & I hardly have any friends here who are same nationality as me. I had no problem fitting in. You have to keep an open mind & not be judgemental. Ironically I get along with other races just fine but run into issues with my own kind.

lets say that any normal person is expected to be treated as a 5 on a scale of 1-10, a 'median' way of life, which sort of means just going thru society minding your own business and living your life. if everyone was treated equally, they would all be treated as a 5. whites get treated as a 5. some other people who aren't white, not all of them but some of them, get treated as a 4 or a 3 (as an example).
now, if you get treated as a 3 when you should be treated as a 5, that's not a 'privilege' for the white person who's only getting the 'median' treatment to begin with anyway, the white person getting treated as a 5 isn't somehow getting "2 pts extra" than you are, he's getting what he could reasonably be expected to be treated, 'white privilege' sort of suggests, at least to me anyway, that whites are being treated 'better' than they could otherwise be expected to be treated.
its not a privilege to be treated as a '5' its more of a 'disprivilege' to others if they get treated as 3's and 4s
but, it all depends on how you want to look at it.
i could see now non whites might feel that their level of treatement is the 'median' and that whites ought to get knocked down to their level....i see it as whites get the 'median' treatment and others need to be raised up, median isn't anything special even though its preferable to the alternative.

Sometimes bits of wisdom seep through. Of course there is the issue of understanding but -- baby steps. LOL I'm familiar with the work of Ms. Elliot but not Mr. Wise.

White privilege is the right to be viewed individually. That's all. It has nothing to do with white people's individual accomplishments
