All rights have legitimate restrictions. Another's right to a cake should not be one of them.

That's quite a sentence but I think I know what you're trying to say. I think you're trying to say you like the trade deals like NAFTA, CAFTA, and the TPP that have and will destroy the working class and the standard of living of Americans for the benefit of the top 1%.

Those are the exceptions to the rule. Government's natural inclination is to grow and choke off liberty.

No reputable economist agrees that liberalized trade deficits harm the working class. Working classs people buy stuff. The consumer benefits more from trade tahn any prospective loss of the worker.

You are defending less freedom. Not arguing that trade restrictions do not lessen freedom. Get on topic.

Your priorities are misplaced. When a person runs a business he should not be allowed to serve a selected customer base of his choosing. It's a business license granted by elected officials and some of those who elected them should not be discriminated against. If you want to just sell pastries and cakes to Christians, get a church to let you operate a bakery in their basement as a church operation. You won't need a business license.

In the first place it's one of those cults that would want to find ways to force others to observe their religious beliefs. That's what the Taliban and ISIS do. If you disagree with their religious beliefs they want to kill you if they can. Is that really what you want? That's where you're heading!

W R O N G

That is the inclination of government bought and owned by big corporations. Blame the corporations. They are at the root of it.

I was talking about trade agreements like NAFTA and the TPP. You reduce that down to specifically trade deficits and want to use it as a counter argument. Sorry. You're the one who is off topic. The subject isn't that narrow. The whole reason over a million American manufacturing jobs, --many of which were good-paying jobs, --went overseas for cheap labor was NAFTA combined with low taxation of top incomes. It changed the incentives, the off-shore income tax, the importation rules, and other things that previously kept American manufacturers here.

I was going to post a lengthy (TL:DR) style post to show the fundamentals of American law and highlight which endowed rights and liberties have been lost.
But, hey, most of you are [censored] and [deleted], so why bother?

Let's celebrate our enslavement to the glorious socialist benevolent totalitarian police state.
Welcome to the People's Democratic Socialist Republic of America - sans that pesky "charter of negative liberties" (saith BHO, that "constitutional scholar" in the White House, ably assisted by Chief Justice Roberts ).

Instead of endowed rights to life, liberty, and absolute ownership, also known as natural rights, natural and personal liberty, and private property, your "right to life" has become a government granted privilege, as are all other aspects of your life.

How so?

You may risk arrest, or need a license (permission), registration, and / or pay a tax to live, work, travel, buy, sell, hire labor, own a boat, own a car, operate a business, transmit radio, fly a plane, shoot a rocket into space, haul cargo and /or passengers, engage in interstate commerce, import, export, trade in healthcare, buy or sell medicine, cut hair, build a house, own exotic animals and fishes, collect rainwater, hunt, fish, carry large amounts of cash, marry and / or own a dog. The worst is yet to come... 'single payer' healthcare (more involuntary servitude) and disarmament (for our own good!). Oh, right, and when you die, they take a chunk of your estate, too.
And do not forget, when requested, to display your official Picture ID papers-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s! [said with a Gestapo hiss]
Almost forgot to include the loss of one’s privacy, as we’re meekly fondled at the airport “for our own good!”

The Founders are spinning in their graves, in dismay.

We love you PDSRA!
s/ Winston Smith.

You don't get the right to serve whom you please in a country where all persons are equal. You have to serve everyone equally.
