Didn't happen, you made it up, they are begging for the effeminate one to show up and offer support,,

True, they don't need to be there. And it is a dog & pony show, even when they roll up there sleeves and hand out supplies, food, etc. But, it's also a moral booster to the victims, reassuring them that they're not forgotten and that the government is there to help (What was it that Pres. Regan said were the scariest words??), and to the rescuers who most likely have been working non-stop for days.
Truth be told, wherever and whenever a President visits for whatever reason, it takes away from resources at the location and is disruptive to the locals. Not only in times of need, but for political fundraising, golf games, photo ops, vacations, and on and on.

Obama and his golf is more important than WE THE PEOPLE.. they know Obama doesn't give a damn about it. His actions speak much more louder than any story.

Media is barely covering the flooding. The true believers stick to the narrative of the day.

I still don't understand how Obama going down there and getting in the way of the relief effort will do any good?

One of my colleagues had a car fire and sustained 3rd degree burn. As worried as we were, we stayed the hell out of the way for the emergency crew to take care of him. After they patched him up and everything in the hospital, then we visited him.

It would have made absolutely no sense for us to get between him in his 3rd degree burned state and the doctors and nurses just to show our moral support.

Again, how exactly will Obama's visit in the disaster zone now help with the relief effort? All it will do is get in the way of the relief effort.

Christie invited Obama to see the mess left by Sandy in NJ about 9-10!days after the storm. Conservative medis immediately called it a publicity stunt intended to outshine Romney.

If I recall Bush 2 was criticized for a fly over Katrina instead of a touch down despite the Governor had not yet invited him and Bush respected this.

Trump and Pence made a spontaneous pit stop in their private jets this morning and spent 1 minute passing boxes of play dough to score some points.

As I understand it, the Governor has extended an invitation and Obama intends to visit on Tuesday.

What Louisiana needs and want is money, not politicians using the disaster as a photo op.
Having survived Katrina - swimming out of my home and riding out the hurricane perched on the roof of my car - I can tell you all the money in the world is not going to help people immediately.

Before the flood, I thought of a flood as just a lot of water. Have experienced one, that water is filled with every filth you can imagine. When it recedes, everything is covered with a muddy, stinking slime. Anything paper, electronic, metal (will immediately begin rusting in the heat) isn't going to be salvageable. Anything cloth is covered in stinking slime.

My most grateful moment after being rescued was being offered a pair of clean slippers. There is probably nothing salvageable in stores, and folks whose cars have been underwater can't get to them anyway.

Blankets, diapers, canned food (and can openers), cleaning supplies, drinking water - all those are needed immediately. And THAT is what was in the semi that Trump donated and had sent to the disaster area. If he included some play-doh for the kids good for him. All the children's toys are unuseable - why not give the children of this horrific event some type of diversion?

Please don't let your hate of Trump cloud your vision - what he did was a very, very good thing.

The Obama News Networks are doing their best to pretend it's normal for a President to stay away from a disaster area.

Only the millenials would believe it.

BUT getting in the middle of it only complicates things.

Obama's problem is the took wild and unwarranted shots at Mr. Bush for not doing what Mr. Obama now knows is not smart.

well... that's giving Obama some credit.

Backing up a bit.

What Mr. Obama HAS DONE is issue a Justice Department warning to the state and local officials telling them that he is watching them to insure they don't discriminate. He is a dirt bag. He should stay away and if he were honest he should say he doesn't care about Louisiana and its southern Cajun voters that will never support his version of America.

As a Louisiana Ex-Pat living in the Great State of Texas, im offended by Bammer and his justice department thuggary.
I'd bet that the folks digging out from all the flooding in Louisiana were less than gratified by a message like that in the middle of their struggles.

And they're also, as usual, putting a negative spin on Trump and Pence's trip there. As pollyparroted by some of the posters on this thread.

Hurting communities want their pain to be acknowledged and reassured that help is on the way, that people understand they are having a hard time. They really need that consistently through the crisis and during the after math. Their governor is doing that, but they need more. They expect that the government will do its job and send aid. Laura Bush was called the "comforter in chief" because she reached out after 9-11. The people are helping each other just like they always do in a time of crisis--race not mattering at all--they just need to be acknowledged and reassured.

Maybe the President and First Lady could take a picture with a sign that says something like "hang in there LA" and put it on Facebook. If that's too repulsive for them to do since LA is not exactly in their political camp, maybe they could send someone--like they sent Sharpton and Holder to Ferguson--even if it's just a press secretary or intern. If no one wants to go, since it is LA after all, maybe they could ask for volunteers.
