There were more Mormons in the Midwest and they caused a scene were ran out all the way to Utah in the late 1800's right under the nose of the constitution.
And just how did they cause a scene?
In spite of the fact that they were law-abiding American citizens, they were driven from their homes in mid-winter and forced to flee what was then the United States for their lives. (Yes, you can take that last statement literally. The Governor of Missouri issued an "Extermination Order" that made it legal to kill any Mormon in Missouri. That law was on the books until 1976. You read that right. 1976, not 1876.) They hauled their meager possessions across the Great Plains of America, losing hundreds to starvation, illness and the elements, and finally settled in a desolate wilderness nobody else wanted.

Hey I don't have much against or for Mormons, my issue is with the muslims jetting over by 100s thousands every year today. I'm not taking a position on who was right or wrong per se. The Mormon leader did something of substance though,, I don't recall. I was just making the point that the constitution never meant nor was interpreted as today's progressives now claim. This incident was well after the first amendment and in the 1800s. The incident I was thinking happened in Illinois after the Mormon leader attack an office of the press and the Mormon leader was later killed. I guess there were conflicts in more than one state.

Surely you're not entering into a discussion of constitutional rights without being aware that the Bill of Rights wasn't held to be binding for state governments until the passage and incorporation of the 14th amendment?
Many mosques preach Anti-West and Anti-Infidel sermons.
A survey showed as many as half. It's troubling.
