I think the article my buddy sent said it was going up 'as much as 70%'. This article mentions parts of WI where one of the plans is going up 71%:

Only one provider, Blue Cross, will offer coverage under Affordable Care Act in Madison, St. Clair counties | Belleville News-Democrat

In Montana, an average increase of 27 - 58%:

KTVH | Helena News | Great Falls News

Initial proposal there was an increase of 30.7 - 65.4% but public hearings led to lower increases.

In TX, they're looking for a rate increase of 60%:

Blue Cross Blue Shield seeks 60% rate hikes in 2017 - Houston Chronicle

These are increases for 2017 premiums in only 3 states.

From my understanding, one isn't forced to pay the penalty, but the IRS can deduct it from any refund the person has coming. Set up your finances to where you break even or pay.

Can we re-title this thread "I want to go uninsured until there is a problem and then stick everyone else with the bill"?

This only really impacts you if you're somebody that not only doesn't pay any taxes but winds up getting money back from everyone else that does.

So, basically not only do you want some of my tax dollars still.....you want me to pick up the tab in case you need medical care in the future....without reducing the tax dollars I give you annually.

Wow. My kids aren't even that grabby for cash.

This is starting to sound like non-genetic child support.

Don't worry, when they raise minimum wage around the country to $15/hour they'll fire you.

(Per non-partisan CBO estimate of job losses as companies cut labor costs to adjust to the higher wages, est. job losses around 600k or so.)

Just remember everyone....letting 6mil illegal workers in the country hasn't hurt the wages of blue collar americans! Perrish the thought! More supply of labor can't possibly impact wages according to some, despite historical evidence like when the Irish swarmed the east coast after the potato famine and were hated by locals for driving down wages.

But wait! The excuse is that Americans wouldn't work those jobs.

This has nothing to do with the above exchange, but Obamacare is the only reason that I am thankful to use the Department of Veterans Affairs medical care.

Your company cut your hours not Obama. Keep it in perspective.
