Many of us have argued to quit putting people into prison for non violent offenses so that those who are violent can stay in longer.
Exactly-murders are going unsolved at record rates-despite technological advances in DNA/forensics and the fact murders and violent crime are at all time lows-because Police Departments spend all their time and resources chasing after non-violent "criminals". Many with multiple non-violent convictions will serve life sentences, while murderers and rapists walk free after 7.
End the War on "Drugs" so Police can actually do their job.
RIP to the Sergeant-too bad an internet troll had to politicize your name while showing their racial biases.

I would tend to agree but the problem is that in many of these cases violent crimes were plea bargained down to non violent offenses. As long as that would be addressed then I am on that side of the argument.
Yes, it's time for white people to riot! Not sure about you guys, but I checked my calendar and it appears I will be tied up with my job all week. I also have to work next week as well. In fact, I'm going to be busy working for the next 30 years. Strange how that takes up time that could be spent rioting, looting and creating mischief
I'm the first person to say they need to do something like automatic death penalty for killing a cop, but OP you've lost all credibility here. Where are you when videos have proven there have been cops who killed innocent people and then lied about it?
Oh, right, then you post that not all the evidence is in, and people just don't understand.
Agreed! I never understood why non-violent people were jailed so much
There are few non violent or victimless crimes..drugs included..that is a false narrative put out by social liberals
Want to bet this pos used drugs at some point in his criminali life..clouding his judgement
Sergeant Steve Owen was a highly decorated veteran... With 29 years on. He could have retired anytime.
Lancaster is typically a safer station although hood rats escaping ghetto policing have spread out all over Los Angeles... You at one point could ride for miles and not see another person.
The false narratives put out by police haters in this country foster the attitude that gets police killed...and we're having a banner year

He is automatically a hero because he was a cop?
Or because he was killed in the line of duty?
Fact is we really don't know a thing about this officer. May have been a great one, may have been a bad one. There is already a big enough wedge in between us all and this assertion that all badge wearers are heroes does nothing but drive it deeper.
He was shot and killed in the line of duty. He was there to stop a burglary. Even if some here gave him the "hero" title, so what? the man is no longer with us.
This is surprising. Black people are rarely involved in violent crime.
It didn't take long for the racist cheap shots at all black folks started...
