This kinda cracked me up. I mean, how prominently should he be featured in the African American History Museum at the Smithsonian? What is Tim Huelskamp talking about? I find it hilarious that the first thing this guy did was find out how big the Clarence Thomas tribute is.
He's not the first black justice. He's not as distinguished as the first black justice. His only big accomplishment is getting on the SCOTUS. His record on the bench and before he was on the bench is totally without distinction. He's on the bench because H.W. Bush thought that Marshall's seat had to be filled by another black lawyer.
Moreover, people need to quit talking about (as in this piece) Thomas bringing himself up from poverty to become this and that. That never happened. Clarence Thomas grew up in relative wealth, and went to nothing but the best private schools all of his life. His grandfather, who raised him from his 7th birthday onward, owned two thriving businesses and gave him the best of everything. So the bootstrap narrative is a load of bull.
Congressman Huelskamp's contention that Thomas is a victim of of racism because he's not highly featured is nonsense. I do however agree that it makes no sense to highlight Anita Hill at all. What in the hell is she doing in there?
You are right... no African American supreme court justice should EVER be in the museum from this point forward except for the first one... you have succeeded in showing how not racist you are... /end sarcasm

Why use sarcasm when you can just list his great accomplishments?
Make a case for Thomas being featured prominently. You can't. You know that his record is completely without distinction.
He ain't Thurgood Marshall. If he was within a mile of Marshall, he'd be prominent in the museum even if he isn't the first justice.

How prominently is he displayed? If they have a small crappy picture of him with his name on small print in the corner meanwhile Marshall is a giant statue sitting on a gold throne with a gold gavel in his hand than maybe I agree with what this guys saying.
I don't really care though. I go to the AA museum in my city every MLK day an Juneteenth, or watch the local black history channel cause the smaller less known local guys are cool to learn about, but other than that I don't really care. Black History has been shoved down my throat sense first grade non stop. It's a subject that just bores me cause I was forced to learn so much about it my whole life.

Actually, in reference to your first paragraph, if they have a small crappy pic (as you say) of Thomas in a corner somewhere, that'd be perfectly fine. That's plenty for him. He's not distinguished enough to warrant anything more than that.
As for your feelings on black history, I've got no comment on that. No one can make you like something that you have no interest in so i'll leave it at that.

Sounds like you have some sort of hatred towards the man. He IS distinguished and has accomplished quite a bit in his life. I don't have interest in Black History because well, I know most of it. Both my middle school and high school were named after black historical figures and black history was forced learning. I was forced to write a paper on distinguished black person at least once a semester from 7th grade to 12th.
