Welcome to the new America. Wondering how many of these people are illegals, refugees, or asylum seekers. Probably 30 million.
And proberly 250 year ago 20 percent of those in United States did not speak English either

It's almost a requirement to speak Spanglish for some jobs these days because so many refuse to learn English.

Speaking many languages is great as long as you speak the primary one well.

Wow. Some people get real worked up over not much.

Many nations have more than one prominent language. Canada comes to mind.

Sorry it's a problem for those who wish everyone looked, believed and acted like Ward and June Cleaver.

The constitution prevents a language from being the declared language of America.

What's the problem?

We enable and facilitate non-english speakers to remain so. The language of our government should be English and only English. If immigrants want to come here they should at least learn our language.
Why should it be English specifically.

This article is write but no one is reading it. Probably 5-10 million people or less in the U.S don't speak English this is the numbers for people who speak a language other than English AT HOME, I have friends who are Hispanic and Filipino who speak the languages their parents originally have at home. I have met all of their parents and while some have a slight accent, all their children speak perfect English. This is like half of my class so the premise here is blatantly wrong.
A new report shows explosive growth in the number of U.S. residents 5 years of age and older who speak a language other than English at home.

"The report by the Center for Immigration Studies, which breaks down new Census data, shows a record number of new immigrants in the country whose primary language is not English, and the fastest growing language is Arabic.

In 2015 a record 64.7 million U.S. residents spoke a foreign language at home – up 5.2 million since 2010 and up 1.5 million in just the last year. The largest percentage increase from 2010 to 2015 was for speakers of Arabic, Hindi (an India language) and Urdu (Pakistan’s national language)."
