I know of a similar story..India had elections in 2014. Whole country was fed up of 10 years of corruption and voted him. He promised change, promised to act on black money, promised to reduce corruption.
He did most of them. The citizens are celebrating him for his achievements.
And they are happy that India is getting into NSG, sending rockets to Mars , declaring Pak as a terrorist state and sharing posts in Facebook about surgical strikes. They are happy about how the government is responding to twitter posts and facebook posts and takeing prompt action. They were also proud about US giving visa to Modi who once was denied visa for being a non secular.
(Meanwhile they got Income tax incrases, Petrol price increases, sales tax increases, inflation, commodity price increases and unthinkable real estate prices. Corporations multipied their profits manyfold and no corrupt politician went to jail. ).
Trump will do everything as you think, but in the end it will be paycheck, income tax, insurance premiums, vehicle tax, property tax for most of us.
I mean, not all Trump supporters are White supremacists, but those who are are somehow part of the basket of Deplorables.
Today's white supremacists have no main stream politicians that will support their racial agendas; therefore, they look for politicians they believe will protect rights, especially concerning freedom of speech and freedom of association. This is the reason they support Republicans over Democrats.
Of course, back when politicians did support racism such as slavery and Jim Crow, it was the Democrat party.
