I've also become more liberal the older I get. I do think it depends on where you start on the liberal/conservative continuum, as well as who you associate with in your career and personally.

I started out life in a very conservative house and held those views until I started to slowly change in my young adult life. It's a slow process, and personally I think slow change is better than fast change. Life's experiences have a way of molding you into a different person than the one you started out be.

I'm much more of a "live and let live" type of guy now, less judgmental, but still pretty much a fiscal conservative. Do what you wish with your life, love who you wish to, live how you wish to, but just don't ask me to pay for all your crazy, nutty, dysfunctional ideas for ever more. Social safety net, absolutely, you never know when anyone of us may need it for a time. Having the social safety net pay your way for your entire life, and your spawn for the next 5 generations....not so much in favor of that. If this way isn't working for you, try something else, make some changes.
