That is silly. You are being totally illogical.

First of all . . . who needs to buy these cheap toys? They are NOT necessities!

Secondly, just b/c we have a minimum wage . . . that does not mean an employer has to pay a minimum wage! Employers can pay more than the minimum wage. Now stop and think about that. Very few jobs would pay a minimum wage anyway other than housekeeping. Tell me one that does (and wait staff does not count).

You still can't escape from the fact that most Republicans would like to abolish the minimum wage, or at any rate certainly oppose efforts to raise it. I don't know why they oppose setting a minimum wage, unless they believe the employer should have the right to pay his workers for as little as he can get by with.

Who are these "most Republicans?" Do you mean - Congress? Do you mean my neighbor who owns a small business and pays the "going rate" for his employees - along w/ bennies and bonuses? Who is it that could "get away" w/paying crappy wages?

For example. Take my business. I subcontract w/ a graphic artist. Let me tell that artist I am going to pay her $8.50. She will laugh her way out the door! She is not going to touch my work for under $45/hr.

So who is it that wants to pay these crummy wages? And who is it that wants to work for these crummy wages?

This argument is totally nonsensical. Someone please tell me who they know who is working for even minimum wage, except for students or people w/ absolutely no skills whatsoever. Please tell me who b/c even my college student kid makes more than minimum wage and so do all his friends.

Yeah but the Liberals in the Congress passed a raise in the minimum wage over our protestations so we decided to poison their kids with Chinese toys instead -- heh heh.

Republican Killing and Poisoning Children!
This was the original topic on this thread and why should it be Republican or Democrat?
It should be ALL Americans, that are outraged, it is true that toy's from Mattel are not a necessity, but food and medicines are. This was not a just one time with China, it has happened over and over again. The FDA should be doing something about this, but now we as consumers have to check everytime we purchase something, if I see China on it I don't buy it.
sassy

You are so right. This is a public health and safety issue. We should all be screaming b/c of these Chinese goods. I don't trust their quality and safety standards! But here they are . . . we are growing the Chinese economy every time we buy this stuff, but as you said . . . we don't always know . . . if you see Made in China stamped on it - you can avoid it - but if it is a drug, how do you know?

Very troubling.

The argument that people want to abolish the minimum wage to pay $.50 an hour is nonsense or everyone in this country would work for minimum wage. Since 90% of this country does not work for minimum wage, removing the minimum wage does not give us $.50 per hour employees, it gives us a more flexible entry level wage and more of an incentive to advance in the workforce.

Now that people dont have to be worried about getting hit with neg reps because they post outright lies with their threads, we're going to be bombarded with a bunch of threads full of bs like the original posting here.

Let a conservative or Republican post flat out lies here and I bet we'd be banned for life...

Thank you for the voice of sanity and logic.
