I say the reason we keep losing is because we keep catering to the very poor who have a much higher fertility rate than everyone else. We all know they tend to vote Republican anyway. By catering to the poor, we are driving away vast blocks of the electorate by appearing to foster a culture of dependency.

Can other progressives explain to me why we keep catering to the very poor when they are usually religious, have a gazillion children they can't afford, and tend to vote Republican anyway?

Didn't the election result proof enough that those who use Obamacare cannot be counted on as a voting block? I say screw them. Repeal Obamacare and start focusing on segments of the population that we can actually count on.

What are you talking about? Most of the poor and on welfare vote overwhelmingly Democrat. A very small percentage of the white poor and on welfare lean toward voting Republican but I think even they vote majority Democrat.

If you stopped subsidizing the poor reproducing. if anything it would shrink the democrat voter base, as would reducing immigration. So from my perspective it's an excellent idea. It would lower crime too.

Nope. The very poor tend to be religious. That's why they vote Republican. The very poor voting for a Democrat is a myth.

Its time for the Democrats to return to its progressive roots as a working mans party of FDR instead of the Limousine Liberal party along with Identity politics .

Third Way Clintonism needs to go if they want to make inroads in winning elections again.

The largest numbers who voted for Clinton made less than 50,000, while Trumps largest voting block was over 50,000

Lol...somebody's got it completely backwards.
Dude, there's a reason Dems cater to the poor. So now you lost the election, you want to double down and only cater to wealthy liberals? Yeah good luck with that.

Are you saying they're only poor people and rich people? Whatever happened to most of the people who are somewhere in between?

Not true. I see you have a problem with the religious. Jews vote overwhelmingly Democrat. Catholics go either way. Muslims tend to be poor and vote overwhelmingly Democrat. Hispanics tend toward being more poor and Catholic and vote overwhelmingly Democrat. Blacks many poor and religious and vote off the charts Democrat.

The election proved there are still plenty people in the middle. However the democrats spat on them with contempt. This is why the working class voters don't vote for democrats anymore.
