That's because shitty food is usually cheaper than healthy food. And when you have to work two jobs to survive, there's not much time for anything other than Hot Pockets.

The poor tend to be overweight all over the world, depending on their national diet.
Its true in rich western civilizations like usa, canada, australia, uk, europe. But poor countries in asia, africa have lean poor population. Sugar, oils & cars are expensive so only the rich can afford to have a sedentary lifestyle eating high calorie foods. Its a status symbol to eat at mcdonalds or subway in India because it is costly but vegetables, seasonal fruits, beans, legumes, dairy are affordable as it is a local product & often subsidized by the govt for the poor. Carbs like rice, wheat are also plenty in third world countries but the poor & middle class walk it off as cars are expensive so you are stuck with public transportation or walking.

Healthy food can be very cheap....if you have a brain in your head and know how to shop.

Lower-income people, for the most part, do not have enough discipline and insight to figure-out what is a healthy diet for themselves....and then actually eat that diet 80 - 90 percent of the time.

Just like the national smoking rate is what, 18 - 19 percent. But, yikes, lower-income people.....what is the smoking rate, 70 - 80 percent?????

The same reason they don't have a healthy diet is the same reason they are poor - no discipline or the ability to delay gratification. Low intelligence in most cases too.

Medicaid usually only applies to people with children now, most states have kicked childless adults off the roles.

And housing given?? Section 8 waiting lists are counted in years, if you apply for vouchers tomorrow, you might actually get them by 2023 if you're lucky
