The left needs to assign a name to blanket those people/entities that go against their political views:
-Alt-right
-Deplorables
-Racists
-Fake News
Its name calling, the most childish act of pushing back against those who you disagree with. There is plenty of "fake news" out there, but this nonsense about pretending it only comes from conservatives and it is only driven by Russia is as ignorant as the fake news is itself.
Also, why are we pretending to be surprised that Russia (may or ma not) want to manipulate our election? Isnt that what we the US does in just about every country we think we can get away with it in? Bombings, regime changes and the like? Its called blowback, we need to either learn to deal with it, or tone our own actions WAY down.
Walter Cronkite said that what got on the news was what he wanted to get on the news. This is a type of "fake" news and what those who once controlled what people saw are upset about.
Today if Walter refused to cover something, a whole myriad of other sources can.

The Fox headline implies that the protest had something to do with the baby's death. I looked up other coverage of the story (including other conservative press) and, as far as I could find, only Fox seemed to attempt to mislead. None the less, the Fox story isn't fake news - it just has a misleading headline.
I am not a fan of BLM; I think it should be ALM. However; why are we deliberately overlooking so many Blacks dying and wounded in our cities? To me that kind of reporting sounds racist if we feature a kidnapped White woman or Trump's thoughts over the lives of so many Blacks. It is almost like reporting these horrific atrocities will reflect on failed liberal policies and the media will not touch it.
So is it that the main stream media war on " fake news" is based on silencing alternative unsanctioned private and personal news sources that threaten the profitability of main stream media corporations, or is that they're revealing news and information that the state has deemed dangerous? Are we in North Korea or China now? Social media is free speech, is that dangerous too, now? Are only "certain people" allowed public platforms to have their views heard?
Hands off my internet, or I'll break them off.
The problem with the current state of news reporting is that it's often editorialized. Facts are conveniently left out to make the viewpoint appear bullet-proof. Claims are made using unnamed sources. Later news articles that complete the storyline or contradicts the original headlines are ignored or marginalized.

Here is one other point that should be brought up about the state of our media: Matt Drudge. With only three employees Drudge had more views that almost all of the big players; he placed #3 in this link in both September and October of 2016: https://www.similarweb.com/blog/us-m...g-october-2016. During that time period the NYT placed only 9th and 10th, prospectively, for those two months. Keep in mind that the NYT employs 1,200 journalist and is loosing money! This article, that ran in The Business Insider, claims Drudge is worth $100 of millions of dollars: Drudge Report Worth Hundreds Of Millions - Business Insider.
I actually did not like Drudge for news until this last election. The 'journalist' that the major media employed, turned into editorialist, and I did not want to listen to their version - beside; every station and news source simply repeated each other. I would be shaking in my boots if I was one of the big guys in media; they are loosing the battle when they stopped delivering the product!
