A good living wage is NEVER returning to US "manufacturing." The Industrial Age is over. Service type jobs can be done for pennies on the dollar in third world countries. If you are not a self-employed professional of some kind, don't hope for your job or your type of job for a lifetime...or for your kids if you have any.

If you don't get that we can never compete for jobs against third world wages, there is no helping you.

The US will buy products. They can be products made overseas or made here. I guess you don't care either way.

China is just making noise, just like Trump is.

China and the US are like two guys in a life raft threatening each other with hand grenades.

The only people (over) reacting to this are partisans.

This from the supporter of a man who lies, obfuscates and exaggerates with every single word that comes out of his mouth, or gets dumped onto his Twitter stream? Still trotting out that "liberal" straw man to castigate anyone that dares disagree with his fascist pronouncements? Whether you like it or not, thinking people all over the world understand the precise nature of Trump and reject him as the authoritarian thug that he truly is.

China is unlikely to step into a world war at this juncture, but the idea that they could not defeat the West (or obliterate it) if they so desired is a fantasy. When you have a population of 1.3 billion, and given the tenacity of the Asian mindset, they would either prevail or fight until civilization as we know it is smoking rubble.

Both sides do this garbage all the time....take some event and then hypothesize and *imagine* the horrible ramifications based on pretty wild speculation.

So, the kernel of reality is quickly covered in layers of BS to push a narrative.

It's always like that no matter whom the president is or what party they belong to. *shrug*

Call it what you want.. China does not have the resources, money, or manpower even with a population of 1.3 billion... it is as logical as India who is going to surpass China in population to take over the world by military might... The only thing China can do is cyberwarfare and trade wars... they are not just "unlikely" to go into war... it would be impossible... China and Japan have the same problem, a problem they created...

You don't know anything about economics.

Yes, products can be made here or made overseas, but the reason you can get a flatscreen TV for less than 200 bucks is because it's made overseas by people earning as much in one week as many American workers expect to make in a single hour, or made primarily by robots.

Now, you want those TVs to be made over here again by American workers, so American workers can earn $25 an hour putting them together? Fine - but how much are you willing to pay for that TV in order to make that happen?

I can't believe how many people don't get this. You conservatives just can't have it both ways. For decades, people have refused to pay more than a few pennies for everyday items, but at the same time they insist that want those items to be made by American workers and for those workers to get paid $50,000 a year. Why is it impossible for you to grasp that you can't have both - you only get to pick one?
