A minimum income won't be a great solution because people need to be productive.
People with the assistance of AI will be directing these machines. They'll be making earning a decent living.

The rest will be scrambling to keep their heads above water. Likely with more service industry type jobs.

Thomas L. Friedman's new book, is worth reading -- An Optimist's Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations

The globalization train has left the station. We are way into the age of technology with AI picking up speed. People are struggling to keep up with the accelerating pace of change.

Continual education is the name of the game. Computer engineers realize that they have to keep up with new training/technology because or fall behind with limited options to get back in.

I think that has happened to a lot of coal miners, rust belt folks, etc. They have their hopes pinned on Trump bringing those jobs back, but they are doomed to disappointment. He's a salesman, not a wizard.

I don't know what we are going to do with all these people who are basically unemployable. There are only so many massage therapist and CNA positions available.

Working class people tend to spend all of their income, which puts dollars back into our economy. When a billionaire like one of the Walton kids gets a "raise" in terms of bigger profits, they stash it in a Swiss bank where it helps no one but them and the bank.

Not to say that there isn't short term pain for small businesses, but in the past increased business due to more money circulating IN THE LOCAL community, has offset some of these losses. A rising tide raises all boats, but the tide has to be in your community and not a Swiss bank.
It's not the very wealthy who are affected by minimum wage increases. It's the people who are already making $15 that have to see their jobs downgraded to minimum wage status. It's the small business owner who doesn't have Swiss bank accounts, and it's the people currently making minimum wage because they're beginning to cost enough that automation is more of a viable option to the business owner.

Liberals tend to support workers unions. Conservatives often don't. Workers unions allow workers to democratically help determine wages and negotiate with employers in a way that an individual worker likely would not have the capacity to do. While liberals also support regulations that can put employers in a situation that requires them to cut wages or lay people off, they still show support for the workers in other ways. I mean, isn't being anti-union basically saying workers should have no ability to rally for better pay? I know the argument is "work somewhere else" but that implies that this is an easily attainable option, which often times, it's not.

Point being, the OP doesn't really know what a liberal is and is making a complex topic into a simple one to get simple people to praise him for his brilliance.
Liberals might historically claim all this stuff, but after the last election, there seemed to be a collective bashing of all of middle America by your liberal brothers on the coasts. It sounds like you've got some fracturing going on here.

Why can't they SEE this!?

Liberals, continue buying everything from China and hiring illegals to do all your hard work. We know you idolize 3rd worlders and loathe red blooded working class Americas.
Donnie has his stuff MADE in CHINA! He hires HBs to work at lower wages!? Wow.

It's not enough to just be in favor of protective labor laws. You actually have to keep those jobs otherwise they're useless.

Well, I've worked in in the trucking industry and have never even been on the FB and Twitter sites so I'd say the premise of this thread is a made-up 'Liberal this, Liberal that' broad-bush whine with little basis in fact.
