As others have already pointed out this mess was inherited and not created by BO. The deficit has actually been decreasing as a percentage of GDP for the past several years and was on trend to continue to do so in the future.
Since Trump is planning on massive tax cuts for his rich wall street and corporate friends, and boosting military spending, you tell me how he is going to cut the deficit in the future? I'll be waiting for this strategy as well as the release of his tax returns.
