2) The alternative was just about as bad - choice between comically inept narcissist or shrill ice queen
2b) Learned that our political selection mechanisms are hopelessly screwed up. If these were the "best" 2 people in America for the office of President, we might as well disband the nation now and save ourselves waiting for it to collapse. You could find better people slinging burgers at McDonalds, and that shame rests at the feet of BOTH major parties and their dogmatic adherents.
3) Found out how abysmally gullible a large portion of the American population is
4) Found out how laughably partisan the remaining portion of the American population is
5) Realized we are even more f**ked than I already thought we were
6) Gave the movie Idiocracy some fun real life context
7) Realized that if you give people the choice between a pile of crazy entertaining crap or some boring but much more competent non crazy people they will gravitate towards the entertaining pile of crap (primaries)

Good point. But if people are going to go ahead and panic about possible negatives, why not also consider the beneficial possibilities.
I don't disagree with the premise. I am just as sick of the chicken little sky is falling as the next... but it's fair to allow the current admin to exit and professional to allow them to do it gracefully.
Your OP isn't malicious in any way. Fairness and cautious skepticism prevent me from stating anything. Personally I hope he has a huge fallout with the house and senate resulting in a true Conservative party to emerge. One that espouses state rights, decentralized federal power, reduced foreign military projection. Some examples:
1. Eliminate DHS
2. Move to repeal the 17th Amendment
3. Offer amending the constitution to limit house seats to 3 consecutive terms and senate to 2 terms.
4. Repeal and replace the 16th Amendment with a flat income tax and national sales tax
5. Repeal the War Powers Act and limit commander in chief status ONLY under declaration of war

Conservative? I think you can kiss that goodbye. The 1st thing they did was to create a budget which will increase debt by $10 trillion, and I don't think that even takes tax cuts into account.

There's more but that's enough for now
no more coast guards? people watching your local pedophiles- human trafficking and drug sales aww come on??
Reduce spending by 100 billion dollars since 2010 and start a new cold war.
Lets look at the Trump approach:
Reduce cold war rhetoric and increase military spending.
I think the latter approach is the tried but true carry a big stick and keep your mouth shut approach.
I am not predisposed to increase our military spending.I'd like smarter spending.. And lets not exaggerate Obama gutting it. For that I will choose Mises give their bias is well balanced in being skeptical of Obama and the war mongering neocon wing of the Conservatives:
The only thing I could think of is the Obama position is really stupid or really smart. If the people behind the Russo-phobia are using Russia as an excuse to put military assets back into Europe to prevent any rowdy regime in Europe after the dissolution of the Eurozone, then its inspired.
Think of it really. If Europe keeps going in the same direction , imagine if France has an Islamic coup. It happens to be a powerful Nuclear state. In that case "Russo-phobia" 10 years down the road might leave enough American assets to seize the nukes.
