President-elect Donald Trump met with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., a leading anti-vaccine activist, on Tuesday to discuss vaccination policy, incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer said.

Kennedy drew fire last year for describing a "holocaust" of children allegedly hurt by immunization (he later apologized for the term), and both Trump and Kennedy have spread fringe theories linking vaccines to autism in children, an idea that medical experts overwhelmingly reject and have warned is endangering public health.

RFK Jr says Trump asked him to chair a committee on vaccines. Both of them support fringe anti-vaccine theories.

Why the hell not?

Let's put a flat earther in charge of NASA.

Trump is going to take away their healthcare anyway, so they won't be able to afford vaccines in the first place.

1. Take away healthcare
2. Outlaw vaccines
3. Increase environmental pollution by removing business emissions and dumping regulations.

This appointment of RFK, Jr. to a vaccine safety position is upsetting to me. Anti-vaccine supporters are very detrimental to the health of our country and our children. As an aside, it makes me wonder if Trump does have an autistic son. Some uneducated parents blame vaccines for autism which has been disproved definitively in numerous studies.

That's probably the only pick I don't agree with but no official statement... I am leery that it is fake news..

I heard he supports vaccines, just that he wants to verify they're safe and get everybody informed about them. An open mind and transparency is such a foreign idea in government these days that its bound to be strange and frightening.

What most don't know is the person who came up with the "vaccines cause autism" allegation admitted later that it was a hoax that he manufactured. What happened is then Jenny McCarthy, the playmate, then tells everyone her kid got autism from vaccines. Then it starts to spread. Then the conspiracy/anti-establishment crowd run with it and now it's gotten to the point that people are afraid of vaccines. Unfortunately, that has been lost on the public and his hoax has spun out of control. There has been no evidence to support that vaccines are harmful.

However, what is scary is that a lot of idiots in this country avoid vaccines and actually put others at harm. There was a measles outbreak in Disney California. That's not surprising. Southern California has a large number of liberal/granola/hippy/naturopathic nut cases who don't vaccinate their kids. Not surprised it happened in their backyard. The so called herd immunity only exists if everyone else gets vaccinated. But as more people don't get vaccinated, that herd immunity goes and it increases the number of disease that should be erradicated.

This is all of because of idiots who want to believe that there is some conspiracy that vaccines are so harmful. I guarantee Trump made sure all of his kids and grandkids got vaccinated

The man most responsible for the MMR could cause autism controversy was Dr Andrew Wakefield. Wakefield was struck off the UK medical register with a statement identifying deliberate falsification in his research that was published in the Lancet.

The British medical journal identified Wakefield's work as a "deliberate fraud" And Brian Deer the journalist who exposed Wakefield as a fraud said that "There is now no respectable body of opinion which supports Dr Wakefield's hypothesis that MMR vaccine and autism/entercolitis are casually linked".

Scores of young children had needless procedures preformed on them by Wakefield, colonoscopy's and lumber punctures were some of the most common, and of course proved nothing. Wakefied was, and still is, a charlatan who undoubtedly has contributed to the deaths of many young people whose parents believed Wakefied and left their children unvaccinated.

No appointment as of now. But the Tweets Trump has made about vaccines are very real. Donald Trump's views on vaccines
