Wow... I don't know what to say... I can't believe Obama pardon a disgraced dishonorable crook... can Obama sink any lower? Hopefully Trump will pardon Assange as payback...
Payback? He should pardon him as the right thing to do.
I'm actually glad Obama did this as Manning and her sex surgeries would cost the tax payers a fortune and now she can pay for it herself or being stuck in the body how it is.

If entitled to military healthcare Obama and current head of armed services long ago authorized sex change surgery/gender reassignment treatment for veterans.
Failing that Obama also removed restrictions for Medicaid and IIRC Medicare to pay for gender reassignment/sex change surgery.
Either way Manning can still qualify for sex change surgery/treatment on tax payer's dime. Heck the NYT ran a story last year of a convicted felon who is HIV positive that packed up and moved to NYC in order to get subsidized housing, and Medicaid paid gender reassignment treatment including sex change surgery. If Manning cannot get SRS locally can move to NYC and am sure can go the same route.
I think this was the right thing to do. Of course, military worshippers will disagree. I think she spent enough time in a cage and is not a danger to the public.

Honestly I don't know why Obama did this. Probably personal. He probably thought the sentence was excessive. Obama is a real liberal not one "in name only" like Hillary.
Or maybe he did it to get back at the Clintons. I don't think the Clintons and the Obamas get along. Obama has basically blamed her for running such a scrappy presidential campaign.
I've told you, the Obamas have been very supportive of trans equality, they once attended a concert given by a trans violinist for example. As POTUS Obama appointed one or more trans to posts within his administration; though he was careful to select places that didn't require senate approval.
Ever since Bradley Manning "came out" as trans there has been a surge of sympathy that despite what was done leaving him in prison for entire sentence would be like condemning him to death. More so after the suicide attempts.
If Obama left Manning in prison things would fall to Donald Trump and his military administration to sort out. While the current chief of military has been very pro trans, there is no telling what will happen afterwards.

While I agree with Obama giving clemency to Manning, I also agree that he probably won't pardon Snowden. Why? Simply because he made a fool of Obama on the world stage. For Obama it's personal.
