Every country that has walls did it so they can keep out leeches and raiders... there isn't enough money for all the leeches in the world...

To the OP, I agree. We're going to be in a lot of trouble. Isolationism never works, especially when the world has become so interconnected.

Mexico is NOT the entire world.............

building a wall is not isolationism nor is it protectionism. the US wants immigrants to come here - legally. we wouldn't be in this mess if other countries and our politicians didn't screw up immigration policy. back to common sense is all that's needed and if a wall is what it takes to make that statement - so be it. 100 billion is nothing at all in the grand scheme of things. we may be too far gone due to obama's debt spiral anyway and Trump has a massive task on his hands.

Isolating ourselves from the world will create a void that will be happily filled by China, Russia, and new organizations like the proposed CANZUK union. Canada doesn't need us, Mexico doesn't need us ... but we sure do need the free movement of goods and people. Would you rather pay $20 for a head of lettuce or $1,000 for an iPhone?

All across the world (except for the US and Western Europe where Russian propaganda has successfully led people to cower in fear of anyone who looks or speaks or prays differently) countries are uniting and forming unions. In Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Bloc we have the Union State/Eurasian Economic Union. In Latin America we have CELAC, UNASUR, ALBA all of which are closely aligned with Russia and China and led avowedly anti-American leaders like Raul Castro and Nicholas Maduro.

We're endangering our national interests because some rubes in Kentucky and Alabama are scared of Muslims and Mexicans and/or were too stupid to learn marketable skills. Donald Trump isn't make us great again, he's taking us backwards towards becoming an irrelevant rump state. An American version of North Korea. But hey, as long as we stick it to the darkies and the Muzzies it's all good right?
This is an ignorant thread.

To require control of the gateway to your own country =/= being scared of anything

Alliances on our terms are fine and beneficial.

Besides the name calling, it appears OP does not understand national security interests.

Anytime I see a spelling error, my first thought is auto spell correct. Drives me crazy how it changes my correctly spelled words into something unlike my intended word. So I give others benefit of the doubt.

And active choice of what we do =/= isolationism.

So we need to have open boarders, so we don't look scared? Got it.
You can't even spell border right and you're talking about ignorance?

I think military should secure the border. Cheaper, more efficient.

Plus, there are more immigrants overstaying their visas than crossing the border illegally, according to something I read.

I think most Americans just want the government to enforce the law. If you have immigration law, then enforce it. It is really a very simple concept.
You could also make the case that this would not violate posse commitas since the threat is external not against our own citizens etc

E-Verify, E-Verify, E-Verify.

No need for military, no need for walls, just go after the root of the problem, which are the people who employ these illegals. It would cost virtually nothing, yet we never, ever hear Trump talk about that. Instead he wants to waste billions upon billions of our dollars on a stupid wall.

I'd ask why, but we know why. Because he and all of his fat cat buddies who employ these illegals would get caught. Instead, he just talks about the simplistic idea of a feel good wall to appease the simplistic idiots who don't know better.

Never lock your door at your house. Put your address and phone number out there on social media along with times you will be home or not. Say also that you are unarmed or a women living alone. Along with this give that spare room to an illegal you don't know at all. Don't live in fear. We all know that living defensively is fear.
