WHEREFORE, Petitioners and other members of the proposed class pray that this Court grant the following relief:
(1) Issue a Writ of Habeas Corpus requiring Respondents to release Petitioners and other members of the proposed class forthwith;
(2) Issue an injunction ordering Respondents not to detain any individual solely on the basis of the EO;
(3) Enter a judgment declaring that Respondents’ detention of Petitioners and other members of the proposed class is and will be unauthorized by statute and contrary to law;
(4) Award Petitioners and other members of the proposed class reasonable costs and attorney’s fees; and
(5) Grant any other and further relief that this Court may deem fit and proper.
Judge Ann Donnelly of the US District Court in Brooklyn granted a request from the ACLU to stay deportations of those detained on entry to the United States following President Trump's executive order.
It was immensely and profoundly stupid of Trump to make his executive order take effect immediately without warning. There was no reason to strand people at airports and create instant chaos. His E.O. should have said "Effective March 1 ... " Give people time to adjust to the new rules, arrange flights, etc.
Amateur hour at Trump Circus Circus continues...
Yes, that's right. It's completely asinine to let go down this way.
This does not bode well for the future. There are some serious serious consequences that can and will follow from global eff ups of this magnitude.
Now that the temporary inconveniences are settled, we can turn our attention to the liberal complaints that Saudi and Pakistan were not included. They're right. They should be.
Absolutely, I was disappointed that the ban missed SA and Pakistan. Maybe Trump will phase them in next.

darned if you do or dont.. wouldnt that be funny. Theyd screatch like a mashed cat either way
Maybe if Islam were a peaceful religion this wouldn't have happened. These critics should have a perspective before jumping into the "xenophobic" and "racist" bandwagons. This also wouldn't have happened if there were tons of Muslims protesting against terrorism, ISIS and all that. I mean, they are protesting, but it's either against Trump or Israel. Lol.
The ban should've included Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. They're more radical than Iraqis and Syrians. In fact, many Iraqi Muslims are moderate, peace-abiding people. Just because ISIS is from there doesn't mean that they're majorly Iraqis (when they are not actually - most ISIS members come from abroad!). So Trump was a bit "off" here and should've done his research.
The title of this thread is false and misleading. The Judge granted an emergency stay to temporarily allow detainees with valid current visas to stay. That's it. The judge did nothing regarding his executive order overall. It does not allow new immigrants from countries banned to come in unless they already had visas to do so.
