Pretty much my feelings. I was a Liberal when I lived in NJ and still a Liberal living in the red neck bible belt.

Now I can buy guns and go plinking like I couldn't do in NJ.

The music you posted I believe is called "outlaw country/ Western." It's just a step or so off of most Southern Rock in content, but not tone. A band called The Outlaws (not the Waylon Willie one) crossed over a lot from Rock to this sort of style. From Green Grass and High Tides to Lady in Waiting. Indeed this music does identify with people like us. Not saddling up with either end (i.e. your closing statement) and landing in the middle.

Call it what you will. Lol, but we're mutts when it comes to politics. Much of the music we identify with shows that trait. I wouldn't describe myself as liberal, certainly not a hippy, but not a full blown conservative either and again, certainly not a Bible thumper. Without getting into specific issues I firmly believe in minding my own and letting folks be on their merry.
Green grass and high tides forever is one of the best tunes ever, before my time but I love southern rock. Most of the guys I know from rough trades have alot of surprisingly liberal views on alot of things. Even somebody like ronnie van zandt was a redneck but had tons of great songs about the environment and even gun control

Not sure when it was when the beta males & angry women took over the Dems.... and the constipated "stick your nose in my private life" bible thumpers took over the Repubs.

hey, I like the music those drunk, drug-addled rednecks played just fine...

I'm not a liberal redneck, but I am a libertarian hillbilly. My ancestors stuck to hilly, hardscrabble rural areas all the way from Pennsylvania to North Carolina to Missouri. I don't like the government in my pocketbook or my bedroom.

I'm not too terribly different from you.

I'm probably known on here as a flaming liberal, but I do believe in the 2nd Amendment right to bear arms. I don't want to ban guns, but I don't want crazy people to have them either. I wouldn't cut off welfare the way you would because I don't want children to be hungry for any reason. I would love to see long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) available free to everyone who wants it and can't pay for it.

The rest of the things you list I have no problem with.

And I love outlaw country music.

I can go with the first 4 in that list. Not the last 3. In my area, the 18 year olds are not that smart sober, so I know what they are when drinking. Stupid.

The Grass I don't care about one way or the other.

The background checks need to stay. There are Consequences to being a Criminal and choosing to be one. Its not something you just "catch" like the flu. If I am going to hire you, I have a right to know if your Criminal material, and should be working with my employees and my money. If you don't want a record, don't be a Criminal.

Housing is the same. If you don't want to be refused, make better choices or live with it. Its called "Consequences."

I guess I could agree with you on some of these topics, but that would also depend on whether you live in a nice house............, or a Van Down by River!!

Oh Hell yea. Green Grass and High Tides is a timeless piece of tune. I liked everything The Outlaws put out. Their last album, Soldiers of Fortune, went a different direction than their earlier stuff, more hard rock, but I still liked it. Went to an outdoor venue in Reno that had The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet and CDB. Lol, talk about a cross section of people. Honest to God hippies to full blown rednecks, all mixing up being stoned and happy. Not a single fight or even harsh words.

We were standing up close to the stage in our cowboy hats and long hair passing around a bottle of Yukon Jack and this old hippy guy and his gal rolled up. He pointed at the bottle and proffered a pipe (that ended up being hash ) and the bottle and the pipe went round and round. LMAO, often enough we find ourselves on the same page in the same book with people who we woulda never thunk. Stereotypes are a bad thing. In these trying times we would do well to remember that.

Since most schools provide free breakfast and lunch to poor kids and many offer take home dinners and provide food over the summer, how many kids do you think will starve?

How about we have schools provide meals for poor kids everyday and we do away with the other food programs targeting kids over five? This will also put an end to double dipping.
