Currently my best friend is Muslim, although he rarely goes to a mosque and his mom doesn't wear a hijab. I am from a country were 50% of people are Muslim, so I have at least had a distant Muslim relative or known one most of my life. Even my school has a high percent of Muslims, somewhere around 10-20%.
Most of my Muslim friends don't have friends who are Muslim just because they are Muslim but instead have friends based on ethnic group more. Like all the Nigerians, Muslim or not hang out together.
No, but my current circle is fairly small. Being in customer service means I interact with all sorts of people, including Muslims, but I'm not going to count that.
We need a Muslim American reality show for Trump America.
We go to church, they go to mosque.
We have family problems, they've got family problems.
We talk behind their back, they talk behind our back.
We want a better life, they want a better life.
I have several Muslims as patients. They are all very nice, polite, and integrated into western culture.
There are many different "stripes" of Muslims. Those from secular states tend to behave like westerners and have similar goals and cultural beliefs. Those from more "hard line" Muslim states tend not to share western beliefs and views.
I have no problems with Muslims in America who share our culture, obey our laws, and seek simply a better life for themselves. Those who show contempt for US law, are intolerant of women, and fail to integrate should be excluded from the US, as they will be a festering problem.
Well is that not just mind blowing, many here know a Muslim in one way or another and they are still here on CD alive and well. How is that possible?? I guess most are just like you and me, just want to work, raise a family and live a decent life. We have several bad incidents from terrible terrorists, not denying , the horrible carnage of innocent people, the but its not all Muslims., in fact I would say as a nation it's a tiny few if crazies who just deranged.
Only two who were both converts. A former coworker who kept his Christian birth name. We went to lunch frequently, the subject of religion came up after 9/11, and he told me of his conversion. We worked 30 miles from Ground Zero. Surprised he kept his new religion to himself?
The other was a boy I knew way back when in Catholic HS. Lew Alcindor, aka Kareem Abul Jabar. I can tell you he was not religious back in Catholic HS, and neither was I. How well did I know him then? He was dating a friend of mine from my school and we all went to Power Memorial school dances. After they broke up, we continued to sit and talk when we met at the dances.
Yes, I have Muslim friends and coworkers. You'd never know they were Muslims as they are very westernized. One woman is a CEO. They don't wear head scarves - instead they wear shorts and sandals (this is Southern California). They are without a doubt some of the nicest, most generous, caring people I've been blessed to know. And they are afraid of the radicals. Most people don't stop to think that the majority of victims of radical Muslims are non-radical Muslims.
