With lots of leaders and political pundits continuing to highlight the very large number of democratic Senate seats up for grabs in 2018, just how many switch to Republicans is the main question.

8 of those 25 are in red states that elected Trump into the Presidency so those are even more at risk to become more Republican Senate seats. Democrats are working feverishly to figure out a strategy that does more than obstruct or just leave subcommittee meetings vs. Actually voting.

So here is the question...
How many Senate seats will Republicans gain in 2018?

More than they deserve if the Republican's don't start acting with some decorum. (Do NOT take this to mean that I think the Democrats are any better, but the media is going to be heavily in play - holding a microscope up to the actions of the R's.)

Why wasn't none an option? This is a biased poll, to where you seem positive that the Democrats will lose seats. Considering they gained seats this election, that alone isn't on your side

The media bias actually helped Republicans in 2016. The majority of America disagrees with the garbage that the MSM is trying to pass as fake news. A $18k a year reporter who makes up stories and calls it news continues to sink.

Eventually print media and TV will be less trusted than congress. It's that bad and liberal reporters are clueless.

Well, I hope they will lose a few more but it is VERY early to even predict how many might even have a chance of being lost. It will depend on what happens in the next year or so. It will depend on the quality of candidates running on both sides. And we could do with replacing a few old guard Republicans too if you ask me - though I would not want to lose those seats to Democrats .. just put in newer, better Republicans. I would like to see more Republicans with a brain, fresh ideas and courage in Congress.

Of those 8 states you mention, Trump won three of them only by the skin of his teeth.

You didn't put negative numbers in your poll, i.e., seats the Dems get.

People may vote for the Dems as a way to counter/buffer the actions that the president chooses to enact.

I hope to God Almighty that you are one of those types that calls polls 'fake' when you don't like that. Only because that makes the irony of you making a pole with 4 options that are essentially the same thing for those of us who aren't blinded by partisanship.

At this point, predicting an answer to your question is meaningless. That election is 2 years away. A lot can change. The Democrats could take over congress entirely. Who knows.

It will likely depend on the impact Republican policies have on people's lives.

Lot of people voted for Republican because their insurance rates went up. There are several posting on this forum who tell this story over and over and each time the amounts get higher. If the Republican replacement plan works better, they will likely stick with them. If it doesn't, then...

Lots of people voted Republican because Trump told them he was going to claw their good-paying jobs back. If that happens, then hallelujah. If not, then...

If the vouchers produce improved education, then folks are on-board. If it turns into a fiasco, then...

Right now things are a bit of a scramble. If Republicans can get organized they could pull it off.

If not, the 2020 elections will be the least of their worries.
