IMO, it's really hard to defend that. I wouldn't be comfortable with Obama taking questions from only liberal news outlets. Does this bother anyone else?
Obama almost ALWAYS took questions from other leftists. All democrats do that. I like that Trump has enough guts to speak to friendly news organizations. It'll help get his message reported accurately, just like Twitter does for him. His "outrageous" tweets never seem to harm him in the least, even as leftists have increasingly bigger conniptions each time he makes one.
By the way, it is widely known that Hillary Clinton was constantly notified in advance of any questions so that she could focus group test her practiced responses.

Where were these complaints when democrats were and still do get petted and kissed with soft questions from allied, sympathetic "news" outlets? Trump taking questions from conservative news outlets IS gutsy because all other republicans were always terrified of the reaction of democrat/news media reactions.

And most of their questions have an embedded assertion about what they think the answer should be.
